Tata Prima is based on Tata's flagship car model Tata Indigo and the designing is done by Italian car design company Pininfarina. Pininfarina has designed the world's popular cars like Ferrari Mythos, Ferrari Enzo and some Volvo cars. Tata Prima is a future design of sedan with Tata's initials. According to auto experts in industry, the sedan could be loaded with 1.6L or 1.8 L of petrol engine. On the other hand, as Tata's marketing policy, it might be launched with 1.8 L diesel engine. According to the company, the wheelbase of the Tata Prima would be 2700mm which promises ample interior space.

The exterior of the sedan seems amazing with traditional Tata inputs. The designers did well to give it a coupe-like silhouette. The innocent face of the Tata Prima is a blend of simplicity with luxury. Curves and slopes are eye-soothing and pleasing as well. Tata has used its identity in the form of honeycomb front grille with Tata symbol pasted. The front bumper is also illuminated with LED lights at each end. Rear view mirrors, door handles and bumpers are in body colour. The rear view of the Tata Prima is more aggressive and sporty than the front face. Tail lamps and small hatch design is unique and dam sporty. The design work at the back is less but whatever is there, superb. Five spoke alloy wheels enhance the excellent piece of work done at the car.

Tata Prima is spacious and impressive from inside. We can simply say that it will be equipped with advanced interior features and ample headroom and legroom. However, due to the sedan design boot space would not be as big as it looks. But we can expect that storage space at dashboard would be wide enough to hold mid-size stuffs like books, bottles, docs, tiffins etc.

Tata Prima is having a design like a coupe and Tata Indigo's reflection can be noticed easily. The vehicle is supposed to have a 1.6L or 1.8 L petrol engine or a 1.8L diesel engine. But at this point of time, it will be too early to predict about the mileage as well. Because it largely depends on car size, weight and engine.

Tata Prima is a five seater four door luxury sedan. The base model for the car is Tata Indigo. Tata Prima was showcased in 79th Geneva Motor Show in March 2009 and again the company displayed it in Delhi Auto Expo 2010. The exterior appearance of the Tata Prima can be called the most appealing feature as it is given utmost attention by Italian designer company, Pininfarina. If you have a look on the exterior appearance, you would think it to be a Mercedes or BMW like car. The coupe like design with sexy curves and stunning finish is unmatchable. Not only that the company blended its own identical things at outside too. The honeycomb upper grille is one of the example of Tata's identity. Front view of Tata Prima looks sporty and exclusive. This superlative look is supported by stylish headlmamp cluster, upper grille, lower grille with illuminating lights at both end and body colour bumper. The headlamp cluster is comprised of turn indicator, headlmap and fog light. Rear view mirrors are in body colour and house LED turn indicators. It is electrically powered. Side and rear skirts are in dim colour and add to the class looking. Door handlebars are also in body shade. Star shaped five spoke alloy wheels enhance sporty appearance of Tata Prima.

The rear view of the Tata Prima is more sporty than the front view. Tail lamp is horizontal stacked and in stylish finish. The rear hatch is in U shape and provides small opening. Trunk skirt comes in chrome finish.

The company official said that Tata Prima will be longer than Tata Indigo and the wheelbase is to be of 2700mm. The wheelbase is bigger than Tata Indigo and it suggests that the concept vehicle will be longer than its predecessor.

Tata Prima, concept luxury sedan, is designed to give a feel of coupe outside and inside. The vehicle is having four door and seating capacity for five occupants (including driver). The interior design will be decorated with beige settings. It is also expected that the dashboard of Tata Prima will possess most of the luxury features such as advanced audio system, digital cum analogue instrument panels, four AC vents etc. The steering wheel will be power assisted with mounted audio controls. The instrument panel is believed to be placed right behind the steering wheel for driver's clear visibility. In the front cabin, ample storage and comfort space will be provided as common for Tata vehicles. Armrest and bottle holder would be a must for all seat rows and seatbelts as well. As Tata Prima is reported to be more longer and spacious than Tata Indigo, sufficient headroom and legroom would be there inside both rows. A good size boot space will be carved in the sedan. Even it will be coupe size sedan, though enough headroom, legroom and boot space would be ensured by the designer firm. Wide opening from all four doors which also very common to Tata cars in India.

Interior Comfort

Tata Prima would be developed with larger wheelbase than its base model Tata Indigo hence would have spacious interiors. In other words, headroom, legroom and door opening would be wide. Tata Prima is claimed to be four door five seater luxury sedan by the company. Front seat would have more leg and headroom with armrest and bottle holder. Glovebox and a tiny box for small things like coins etc are desirable. Seatblets for all now become tradition and will find their place in Tata Prima. A standard boot space is also expected with flat surface.

In addition to these comfort features, power windows, central locking, driver seat electric adjustment, folding rear seat, rear view mirror, rake steering adjustment with mounted audio controls, electric door mirrors, rear AC vents etc would be equipped with Tata Prima for the sake of luxury for driver and occupants.

As the wheelbase is 2700 mm, the tyre size would be over 185/60 R15. Fifteen inch alloy wheels and 185/60 tyre specification is for Tata Manza. So the Tata Prima would be having bigger tyre and alloy wheels.

Tata Prima is expected to have standard braking system which with every new car in India. Front disc and rear drum brake is too general. The braking system will be comprised by Anti-lock braking system with EBD. Handling becomes easier with the help of efficient braking system and advanced shock absorber technology. Tata Prima is believed to be loaded with Mcpherson strut with stabilizer front suspension and Four link Coil spring rear fork.

Tata Prima is designed on the basis of Tata Indigo and is believed to featured with most advanced safety active and passive systems. It would be equipped with dual airbags, seatbelts for all passengers, child safety lock, power steering, ABS with EBD, remote central locking etc. Smooth handling will be made sure by providing superior suspensions and quick responding braking system. Wider wheelbase is also responsible for better stability and grip on road for any vehicle. Cornering is also other thing which is cared by stronger and wider wheelbase. Power steering allows the driver to use less physical effort.

Tata Prima is a luxury sedan with sexy exterior design. In the same way, the interior is likely to be the best in Tata vehicles. The dashboard of the Tata Prima must be comprised of funky audio system with powerful speakers. The type of audio system would be 2 din CD/MP3 player.
