Later due to lack of popularity, the title SS was removed in 1945 and than renamed Jaguar after five years. Jaguar merged with the British Motor Corporation (BMC) to form British Motor Holdings (BMH) in 1966. After merging with Leyland, which had already taken over Rover and Standard Triumph, the resultant company then became the British Leyland Motor Corporation (BLMC) in 1968. later it was sold to British Leyland and than Jaguar and Daimler marques formed part of BL. In 1999 it became part of Ford's new Premier Automotive Group. In 2002, Land Rover; Aston Martin was subsequently sold off in 2007. At last it was acquired by Indian auto major Tata Motors in 2008.
