The German luxury car maker has launched the facelifted version of its mid level SUV, X3 in the market. This vehicle is available in two variants among which BMW X3 xDrive20d xLine is their top end trim. It is equipped with an updated 2.0-litre, turbocharged diesel engine that is mated with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. This refurbished version comes with a series of cosmetic updates, especially in terms of its exteriors. This trim gets a revised headlight cluster, radiator grille, bumpers and tail lamps. At the same time, its window lining and the external wing mirrors have been tweaked, which gives it a refined look. In addition to these, it is also introduced with a set of newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels, which gives it a modernistic appeal. Its insides also gets some tweaks in the form of refined cup holders, a new seating upholstery with 'X' stamp and high-gloss black finish on instrument panel and central fascia. Apart from these, its remaining aspects have been retained from its outgoing model. This vehicle will now compete with the likes of Mercedes Benz ML class, Volvo XC60 and Audi Q5 in the luxury SUV segment.
Exteriors:
This trim has a breathtaking external appearance owing to its modified cosmetics. Its headlight cluster is wider and is powered by slightly tweaked dual-circular LED lamps accompanied by turn indicators. In the center, its kidney bean radiator grille has been revised and is treated with aluminum satin that gives a magnificent look to the front. The bonnet too gets newly crafted expressive lines that adds to its aggressive stance. Its front bumper gets a fresh new look with a protective cladding along with an air dam, a pair of air ducts and round shaped fog lamps. The side profile looks quite stylish with slightly pronounced window lining. At the same time, the ORVM caps have been tweaked and are integrated with turn indicators. The main highlight of its side profile is its newly crafted Y-shaped alloy wheels, which gives it a captivating look. The rear profile is fitted with a modified bumper that is further equipped with a protective cladding along with an exhaust pipe. The taillight cluster too has been tweaked and it is equipped with a new lighting pattern. Apart from these, its remaining aspects like tailgate, windscreen and spoiler have been retained.
Interiors:
This facelifted trim gets minor updates in terms of its interiors, especially in its cockpit section. The central console and instrument panel is now treated with high-gloss black finish. Its dashboard is fitted with an AC unit, infotainment system and instrument cluster. It is also equipped with a leather steering wheel that has multi-functional switches on it. The seats are ergonomically designed and are now covered with a new leather seating upholstery. Its front seats are electrically adjustable, wherein its driver's seat has a memory setting. Other utility aspects include velour floor mats, rear center armrest with two cup holders, front sun visors, rear bench seat with 60:40 split folding facility, accessory power sockets and an inside rear view mirror with anti dazzling function. The cabin space is huge, which can host seating for five passengers, while providing storage space for luggage. This vehicle has an impressive 550 litre boot storage capacity along with a massive 67 litre fuel tank.
Engine and Performance:
This BMW X3 xDrive20d xLine trim is powered by a slightly modified 2.0-litre diesel engine that has high pressure common rail direct injection system. It comprises of 4-cylinders and 16-valves that makes a total displacement capacity of 1995cc. This motor also has a twin-power turbocharger that helps it to pump out a maximum power of 190bhp at 4000rpm and results in a peak torque output of 400Nm between 1750 to 2500rpm. It is skilfully paired with an advanced 8-speed steptronic automatic transmission gearbox that delivers torque to all four wheels with the help of xDrive intelligent 4WD system. This vehicle can zoom towards a top speed of 210 Kmph, while taking only about 8.1 seconds to breach a 100 Kmph speed mark.
Braking and Handling:
All its four wheels have been equipped with a set of internally vented discs, which are further loaded with high performance brake calipers. This trim is also integrated with an anti lock braking system that works in collaboration with brake assist and cornering brake control. It also has an electromechanical power assisted steering that provides excellent response. Both the front and rear axles have been equipped dynamic damping control suspension, which helps it to deal with any road condition it is driven on. At the same time, this trim comes incorporated with dynamic traction control including stability control function, which keeps the vehicle stable by reducing the loss of traction.
Comfort Features:
This facelifted model gets a two-zone automatic air conditioning system including rear air con vents that keeps the entire ambiance pleasant. It also hosts an array of features including rear center armrest with two cup holders, panoramic glass sunroof and roller sun blinds for rear side windows. In addition to these, it also has storage compartment package, two 12V power sockets, push button start/stop function and 60:40 split foldable rear seat. The car maker has also installed BMW ConnectDrive system that features an iDrive including 16.5cm color display, CD player and direct menu control buttons. Furthermore, it has features like park distance control for front and rear, HiFi loudspeaker system, Bluetooth and USB connectivity.
Safety Features:
This BMW X3 xDrive20d xLine trim is the top end variant that is equipped with features like first aid kit including a warning triangle, side impact protection beams, run flat tyres with reinforced side walls and ISOFIX child seat mounting. It also has sophisticated features like three point seat belts including belt tensioner and force limiter along with hill descent control and electric parking brake with auto hold. Apart from these, it has ABS with EBD, six airbags, active head restraints, electronic engine immobilizer and crash sensors.
