The performance of the vehicle depends on its engine configuration and how efficiently it delivers the power through complete range of operation. The New Maruti Swift comes in both petrol and diesel variants. It comes in 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine and 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine.
The DDiS is the very same engine used in older Swift but, the engine is tuned for refinement both in performance and NVH( Noise Vibration & Harshness). The engine produces 74bhp power @ 4000rpm and 190Nm torque @2000rpm. The pick-up is good. The gear shifts are smooth and positive.
The petrol Swift is powered with 1.2-litre K-Series engine that comes with variable valve timing for better fuel efficiency. This 4-cylinder engine makes 86bhp @6000rpm & 114Nm of torque @ 4000rpm, there is a slight improvement in peak power and torque delivery from the older swift. Maruti has revolutionized in the area of engine technology with its K-series engine which are known for its fuel efficiency, lower emissions and maintenance free life. The ARAI claimed mileage of petrol swift is 18.6kmpl.
