Look and Style it’s almost like Outlander... which I always hated in terms of looks! SUVs are all about Looks, High seating, Ground clearance, internal space... somehow it doesn't fulfill any of these. Proportions are bad, y u have to make it so narrow on top? it’s just eccentricity to map a SUV to an animal... would have been better if designers had stuck to automobile designs (narrow top reminds of Maruti Swift) from inside it seems like a tunnel with a narrow glass opening in the rear! Big tyres yes but do they really add-up? One look at Fortuner will tell how to fit the big tyres to a SUV (at-least one thing original they had from a True-Blue SUV but did a lame job of designing a body around the 17 rubber). Comfort Good Pickup Good Mileage Good Best Features Why u think Safari sells so much despite such grievous technical glitches? Because they got the SUV basics right - Size, High sitting, Internal Space, Majestic road presence, I am sure if Tata pays just enough attention to the body squeaks they will be hard to beat! off course they too need to fit larger tyres (slightly better proportions, seems too tall), better interiors (especially dash). Let Tata work on reliability and durability which Scorpio has earned, I will not buy anything other than Tata ever!

tata safari has outdated technology and i think u dont know how a 21st century's suv shold look like and what technology it should have.... the XUV 500 has everything in it ..
Quite true, The only thing Mr Rajeshwar has to say is about looks, which are very subjective. Its a CrossOver rather than being a true SUV, MAY BE...But I ma sure you can easily off road it without much trouble. Pick up is good, styling is good. The only thing that Mahindra needs to work is to get a better softer suspension to reduce the fatigue factor of long distance travel in XUV Also the last row seating needs to improve in terms of leg space. Rest everything looks okay to me.

SUV for only looks, high sitting, majestic road presence?? ...my friend jst check out the road well u wil see 100's of pajero ...it is an outdated suv bt the performance is still the best among all the suvs' in india. regarding safari its cheaper nd has good off road capability thts y it sells in a large number. xuv500 has great m-hawk engine which is globally tested nd proven. think before writing a review what actually u r conveying to the readers. if looks r soo important go buy honda crv, captiva,ford endevour.... these r jst made for looks

The XUV is a Next Gen SUV. Indian market needs such break through's in design. If not all Automobile enthusiasts have to face the dumb, shabby, age-old designs of Indian Car makers. It might lack few technical jerks as (suspension, gear's) etc but am sure Mahindra will work on it in future models. I was a huge Fan of the Legendary Tata Safari. But, that place is taken over buy XUV. All the Best Indian Market,, You are booming in 2012...
very good exterior design, but interior is to be upgraded like cr-v. jerking while applying the brake is to be rectfied in future coming vehicles.over all good indian suv in recent time.
