Hyundai had not done homework properly.
Hyundai had not done homework properly.
I have a Maruti 800DX which I'm using for the last 15 years. After the launch of EON, I thought to exchange my old 800DX for it. I requested the dealer for a test drive and my feelings are: The look from outside is very good. Inside it is not comfortable like Santro or i10 or even 800DX. When I tried to shift the gear, the gear lever has a lot of vibrations. The plastics inside are of poor quality. Space inside is very cramped. With 4 adults and the speedometer reading 40KM/H at 4 lever, when I tried to clive a high road of having 15 degree up, it lost power and I have to bring down to 2nd gear. Hyundai should have provided with kappa engine instead of a scale down Santro engine for better pickup and mileage, the gearshift should have been changed to the cable system to avoid vibration The basic EON having an on road price of more than 3 lakhs does not have even AC. A standard version having AC, power steering and front power windows shall cost more than 3.5 lakhs on road. Santro with similar facility costs less that this since the company and dealers are giving a heavy discount on Santro. So why to go for an EON when one can have a Santro with the same price and more comfort. On the similar price, one can go for Estilo or Wagon-R with k-series engine. Even Santro would be a better choice than EON with similar price. Hyundai has claimed to have spent more than 800 crores and 4 years of R&D for developing EON, but it has forgotten to develop a good car. All other Hyundai cars are world class except EON. Hyundai should have done its complete homework before launching EON.
