Mitsubishi Cedia Select

Mitsubishi, the Japanese auto company increased the Cedia portfolio in India with the launch of a new variant Cedia. Mitsubishi Cedia sedan was first launched in India in 2006, but the car was not able to stand up to the expectations of the manufacturer. Now the all new variant of this car is launched in the market named Mitsubishi Cedia Select. The Cedia is a very stylish sedan, positioned in the C segment of cars in the country. The new version of the popular 'Lancer', the premium car, evolved from the legendary 'Evo' Series of Mitsubishi.  The Aerodynamic body of the sedan makes it a very muscular and stylish car. The trendy, wide halogen headlamps look somewhat like the fish eyes, hood of the car has some stylish cuts, swoops and ridges that provide a contemporary look to its exterior. The interior of the car is very elegantly designed with proper spacing making ride comfortable and relaxing. Mitsubishi Cedia Select is powered by a 2.0L 115bhp 4 cylinder In-line high torque ECI-MULTIJET engine. The engine delivers a decent amount of power and torque to provide this car with a good acceleration and pick up. The sedan is also fuel efficient and delivers an average mileage of 13kmpl. For the safety of the passengers the car is equipped with highly advanced safety features, in the infotainment section the car has Kenwood DVD player with 6.1 inches of touch screen display with a GPS, Bluetooth and USB interface connectivity. The four speakers further enhance the overall feel of the car.

Exterior

There is not much difference in the exterior looking of the car when compared to the previous variant. The Aerodynamic design of the car makes it a muscular and stylish car. In the front Cedia has a horizontal slate matt finish grille. It is enclosed between the halogen headlamps which are in the fish eye shape to give the exterior more attractive look. The bonnet of the car has stylistic cuts, swoops and ridges which increases the front beauty. The rear section of the car has sparkling wrap around tail lights. There is nothing much at the side making the look very elegant and simple, to add a little beauty to the side profile of the car the company has incorporated the car with alloy wheels.  It has flat wheel arches both in the front and the rear, the outside rear view mirror are in black with the antenna on the top at the rear end. The headlights and the ORVMs in the car are power adjustable making the driving more comfortable and safe. 

Interior

The interior look of the car is almost same as its previous variant. The interior of the car is in beige color which provides an airy feel to the cabin, with wooden trims on the dash making it more appealing. The car is equipped with an Air Conditioner with Heater to control the temperature of the car. The steering column of the car is adjustable allowing the driver to adjust the steering according to his convenience. The sedan also comes with fabric upholstery, leather steering wheel and glove compartment. The instrument panel on the dash includes the Tachometer, Electronic Multi trip meter, Digital clock and digital Odometer.

Engine and Performance

The car under its hood carries a 2.0 L in line high torque engine which has 4 cylinders with 4 valves per cylinder and SOHC valve configuration. This 1999cc engine has MPFI fuel supply system with bore x stroke of 81.5mm x 95.8mm and has a compression ratio of 9.5:1. The engine generates 112.7bhp of power at the rate of 5250rpm and churns out a torque of 174.54Nm at the rate of 4250rpm. The power and torque generated by the engine takes this from 0 -100kmp in just 10.5 seconds with a top speed of 180kmph. The Mitsubishi sedan is highly fuel efficient and delivers a mileage of 9.6kmpl in the city driving conditions and 14.7kmpl on the highway. The fuel tank capacity of the car is 50 liters so that we can travel an average distance of 600kms once full tank. The engine is complied with the Bharat Stage III emission norm and has Oxygen Sensor Air Fuel emission control system.

Braking and Handling

The brake mechanism of the car includes the ventilated disc brakes both in the front and rear end of the car, thebraking and handling system guarantees premium safety of the passengers even on the top speed of 180kmph. It is mated with the five speed manual transmission that offers smooth gear shift feel. Another high point in Mitsubishi Cedia’s braking system is the anti lock braking system accompanied by electronic brake force distribution system that works along with the disc brakes, this ensures safer ride. The presence of hydraulic variable power assisted steering wheel and easy maneuverability with a turning radius of 4.9m makes the driver further more pleasurable for the driver. The suspension system includes the McPherson Strut with coil spring & stabilizer bar at the front and Independent Multi-link with Stabilizer bar at the rear.

Safety Features

The company claims it to be the safest to drive vehicle with passive safety features like reinforced impact safety evolution body, day and night rear view mirror, Central locking, power door locks, child safety locks, anti theft alarm, rear seat belts with seat belt warning and adjustable seats. The active safety features in the sedan are front passenger and driver air bags with halogen lamps and engine check warning. The car is also equipped with the ABS with EBD to enhance the brake mechanism avoiding any skidding of car in case of instant braking.

Comfort Features

Along with the safety features the car has in it many comfort features to provide a comfortable ride to the passengers. These are power steering with front and rear power windows, remote trunk and fuel lid opener, low fuel warning light, accessory power outlet, trunk light, vanity mirror, rear seat headrest, rear seat centre armrest, height adjustable front seat belts, cup holders in the front and the rear.
