The Civic, which had been amongst the most selling D segment sedans in the past, is struggling hard to survive in India now, and that has been the reason why Honda Siel is thinking over to drop its plans to bring in the ninth generation of Civic in India. Although, the all new Civic has made a successful debut in the markets like Australia, Thailand and the US, having priced so high and without diesel variant, it will be really tough for Civic to now survive in India.

And who can deny the bad time Honda Siel cars is having at present, the reason has been nothing else but the unavailability of diesel cars in Honda motors’ portfolio. Honda Civic had seen a great drop in the last financial year; it could just sale a total of 2,296 units, whereas the other competitors including Toyota Corolla Altis and Chevrolet Cruze did a fantastic business with 8000+ units.

If the all new Civic drives to India, it will cost around Rs 13-16 lakh, while in the similar price range, one can get a diesel variant of most other premium sedans available in the country. It’s not just one model that has witnessed the drop, but most Honda products across the line are having a bad time, the company has inspected a sales dip of 23% in the month of June.

Therefore, the solution to overcome the situation is to bring in the diesel variants of its cars, and as we have been reporting it constantly, that the first diesel model that Honda Siel cars is planning to bring in, will be the Honda Brio, later we will see some more Honda products getting diesel heart that include Honda city as well.

Stay tuned for more updates on the same. Cheers!
