Skoda Laura has won the prize for being the ‘Midsize Car of the Year’ and at the Auto Bild India Golden Steering Wheel Awards 2010 as the ‘Best Variant of the Year’. This 5 seater sedan has a spectacular design that has unmatched beauty and grace that brings it at par with global standards. The car range launched in India includes petrol and diesel engines.

There are six variants of Skoda Laura are available in Inadian market which are - Laura Ambiente 1.8 TSI, Laura Ambiente 1.9 TDI MT, Laura Ambiente 1.9 TDI AT,Laura Elegance 1.9 TDI MT, Laura Elegance 1.9 TDI AT and 2.0TDI L and K AT.

The newer version of Skoda Laura is recognized for its powerful engine which performs to thrill with best-in-class power with highest top seed and class leading torque for top acceleration and unique-in-class 6-speed manual transmission.  All the variants have turbocharged engines, in-line, liquid cooling system, direct injection systems and are transverse in front. Mileage, Average and Fuel Economy

The engines of the Skoda Laura models instantly feels lively. They are responsive, eager and ready to leap into a gap in traffic or move away rapidly from a set of lights.The body shape has been designed with the aim of reducing the air resistance coefficient; as a result the fuel consumption is reduced and you get better mileage.

Skoda Laura engine gives a mileage of 9.8kpl in city and 14kmpl on highway for all except 2.0 TDI L&K that gives mileage of 10.1kpl in city and 14kmpl on highway. The Laura engines are endowed with electronically controlled direct injection system.

Power

The intervals between the gears in the five-speed or six speed fully synchronised manual and automatic gearbox for the Skoda Laura are suitably harmonised with the characteristics of the engines on offer. This ensures less fuel consumption and more power. Skoda Laura is available with three different powered engine that are 1.8 TSI 4V 1798cc, turbocharged petrol engine delivers power of 160bhp at 4500–6200rpm and maximum torque of 250Nm at 1500~4500rpm.

While the diesel variants of Skoda Laura is powered by the 1.9 TDI 4V 1896cc, turbocharged diesel engine present in both Ambiente and Elegance models delivers power of 105bhp at 4000rpm and maximum torque of 250Nm at 1900rpm. Another more powerful version of Skoda Laura is powered by the 2.0 TDI L and K AT powered by is 2.0L, 1968cc, 4V diesel engine with automatic transmission gearbox that delivers maximum power of 140bhp at 4000rpm with a maximum torque of 320Nm at 1750rpm.

Skoda Laura is available in beautiful shades and tones varying in different models. It comes in shades of Arctic Breeze, Brilliant Silver, Candy White, Cappuccino Beige and Magic Black.

Acceleration and Pick Up

The pick up of engine is smooth and it accelerates fast specially the diesel engine that shows bags of performance though with a bit of noise. All the variant offers acceleration of 100kph in 8.17sec and top speed of 223Km/h except 2.0 TDI A/T L&K which offers acceleration of 100kph in  11.07sec and top speed of 207Km/h.

1.8 TSI 4V 1798cc is turbocharged petrol engine with in-line, liquid cooling system, direct injection , 16V DOHC, transverse in front and delivers power of 160bhp@4500–6200rpm.

1.9 TDI PD 4V 1896cc is turbocharged diesel engine present in both Ambiente and Elegance models. It has a turbocharger with self-aligning blades, in-line, liquid cooling system, high-pressure direct injection system, OHC, transverse in front and delivers power of 105bhp@4000rpm.

2.0 TDI A/T L&K 4V 1968cc diesel engine delivers a power of 140bhp@4000rpm and a maximum torque of 320Nm @1750rpm.

Transmission in all is of Drivetrain Front Wheel Drive type with Manual & Automatic Gear Box 5 Speed and 6 speed. 1.9 TDI PD  and 2.0 TDI P engines also have automatic 6-speed, DSG, with Tiptronic manual gear changing.

The hydraulic dual-diagonal circuit braking system vacuum assisted with Dual Rate system is present in Skoda Laura.
