The Skoda Rapid is available in market with its two engine variants: petrol and diesel. The diesel engine has a 1.6 litre TDi unit that makes 103bhp at 4400rpm with a 250Nm of maximum torque at 1500rpm to 2500rpm. At the same time the petrol version of the car with a 1.6 litre MPI unit makes 103bhp of power at 5250rpm but produces a different torque from the diesel version, i.e. of 153Nm at 3800rpm. This same engine is being used in Skoda Fabia and VW Polo. The 1.6 litre TDi unit abides the BSIV emission norms. The diesel engine has a five speed manual gearbox but the petrol version has a six speed transmission with Tiptronic manual gear changing option.
