5th-Oct-2011: The globally sixth ranked automaker, Peugeot-Citroen alliance, will be the next European collaboration hitting the Indian market.The french automaker had recently announced plans to enter India and according to the official sources they will be soon launching Peugeot 207.
Mr. Grégoire Olivier, Member of the Managing Board PSA Peugeot Citroën and CEO of Asian Operations, Mr. Vincent Rambaud, Director General of Peugeot and Mr. Frédéric Fabre, Managing Director of PCA Motors India performed the bhoomi poojan and the ground-breaking ceremony. On this occasion, Honourable Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Narendra Modi commented: “Gujarat is emerging as a Global auto hub. I congratulate Peugeot to be part of it.” “I take this opportunity to reiterate and reassure you of the longstanding commitment and dedication that we devote to this project,” said Mr. Vincent Rambaud, Director General of Peugeot.
The Peugeot 207 hatchback was spotted sometime back and quite recently the hatchback is yet again spied on the Pune roads. This time the Peugeot 207 hatchback was found being tested by the ARAI technicians checking on few of the key points in the car. The small car is likely to be introduced in the Indian car market by the end of 2012. Loaded with exceptionally good features, the car is expected to challenge the competitors like Maruti Swift and recently launched Honda Brio in B segment cars. The French car manufacturer is working towards setting up the new plant in Gujarat with the Ground Breaking ceremony to be held on November 3rd.
Peugeot 207 has been spotted on the roads of Pune, which could reveal the French brands intention to launch the hatchback in India. It is well-known that Peugeot Citroen intends to make its re-entry into the market with the launch of its sedan Peugeot 508. Though the car is being tested to check its viability on the Indian roads, no confirmation on the launch in the domestic market is reported. The speculated information regarding the Peugeot price for 207 hatchback is not available as of now.
