In addition to these, are some funky interior features such as vibrant new colours for upholstery, colour coordinated door trim fabric, stylish gear knob, integrated headrests at front and rear, all-new speedometer, tachometer and electronic tripmeter, vanity mirror, accessory socket, rear parcel tray, ash tray & cup holder, front power windows, air-conditioner and a heater, Key-off reminder, power steering, improved knee-room for rear seat passenger comfort, remote fuel tank lid and back door opener. The new Maruti Alto K10 is also equipped with active and passive safety features that increase the safety level for the driver and the passengers. The safety and security features include collapsible steering column, improved suspension system, improved braking system, side impact beams, front fog lamps, headlight leveling device, the child locks on the rear door, central locking, engine immobilizer through i-CATS-to minimize chances of burglary and high mounted rear stop lamp.

Editor's take : Despite being a 1.0-litre engine, the K10 returns a good fuel efficiency figure. This is thanks to the K-Series engine series from Maruti Suzuki.

Maruti Alto now comes with an upgraded K10B petrol engine that has a displacement of 998cc. This 3 cylinder high powered powertrain of the new Maruti Alto can produce a max power of 68 PS at 6200 rpm and churn out a peak torque of 90 Nm at 3500 rpm. The small car comes with new 5 speed cable type manual transmission that helps to get more power and mileage of 20.2 kmpl, according to the company . Fuel economy of Maruti Alto K10 is particularly good because of the compliance to BS1V emission norms.

Editor's take : The Alto previously was powered by a 800cc engine, the new 1.0-litre engine has boosted its performance.

The new Maruti Alto K10 comes with a lot of exterior changes that justifies people calling it a new Avatar of the existing trusted brand. This time, the headlamp cluster is designed in bold eagle-eye shape with crystal-clear lens which attracts onlookers at first glance. The front fog lamps are fitted in round shape slot and other parts of the front view remains the same as in the old Maruti Alto. To add to the style quotient of the hatchback - Maruti Alto K10 , internally adjustable rear view mirrors are wrapped in body colour along with bumpers. Exterior Measurements

While the overall length of Maruti Alto K10 is 3620 mm giving it a small car look, it overall width is 1475 mm. If body side moldings are added to the width, it becomes 1495 mm. The overall height remains considerable at 1460 mm and the wheelbase of Maruti Alto K10 is 2360 mm. The minimum turning radius of the car is just 4.6 m thus ensuring that an effortless parking and turning at corners is facilitated. The total ground clearance of the hatchback is 160 mm. The kerb weight is 760 kg for Maruti Alto K10 LXi and 765 kg for Maruti Alto VXi. Gross vehicle weight is however 1185 mm.

Editor's take : The Alto is the bread-and-butter car for Maruti Suzuki and has very basic interiors. The space on the inside isn’t as good as the competition and the feel of the plastics isn’t that great. But the quality of the plastics is decent and things don’t fall apart.

The interiors of Maruti Alto are stylish and chic. The all new three spoke power steering adorns the dash of Alto K10. A stylish gear knob resides between the front seats. The all new Maruti Alto K10 interiors are done with dual tone and high-quality fabric seats are used with vibrant new colors for upholstery and colour coordinated door trim fabric. The front and rear seat are provided with seat headrests with folding rear headrests. Molded door trims with fabric inserts on them give an all new experience while stepping-in Alto K10. Cabin lamp ensures sufficient light in the hatchback for reading and other purposes. Upgrading the overall ambience in cabin, the speedometer in instrument cluster for driver is given amber color illumination.  An all-new electronic tripmeter with Tachometer, vanity mirror, ash tray, AC with heater, sun visor, accessory socket, rear parcel tray and cup holder and front power windows are other interior features of K10.

Interior Comfort

The new Maruti Alto K10 is claimed to be more spacious with ample leg, head, shoulder and knee room in the rear seat row. Remote back door opener and fuel tank lid opener are added features in the all new variants in Maruti Alto. Key-off reminder is a new feature in the car that reminds you to take the key with you. The new Maruti Alto K10 also comes with central locking system. Comfort is given prime importance while designing Maruti Alto K10. A powerful AC is all that you need when you sit in your car after coming from unfavorable weather conditions. Alto K10 does not disappoint you with as it comes with powerful AC and heater. Power steering in the cabin lets you drive smoothly on congested Indian roads. Power windows in front, tinted glass, accessory socket, tripmeter and Tachometer are other material c omforts in Maruti Alto K10 .

The flagship hatchback of Maruti, Maruti Alto is now available with a new 998cc engine that meets with BS-IV emission norms . The new engine is christened K10 B. This 3 cylinder mill lays out a peak power value of 68 Ps at 6200 rpm and generates a max torque of 90 Nm at 3500 rpm; this engine output is far better than its predecessor. The engine now comes incorporated with 5 speed cable gear shift instead of lever shift that results in increased and uninterrupted performance. As an outcome of the new powertrain, the Maruti Alto K10 can go from 0-100 kmph in just 13.3 seconds that is 4.4 seconds faster than the older horse of Maruti. The thoughtful engineering has made Alto K10, truly an eco-friendly car with ELV (End-of-Life Vehicles) certification ensuring high degree of recycling of raw material and following emission norms of BS IV. The zippy K-series engine is made of aluminum thus ensuring that the engine is light-weight.

The all new Maruti Alto K10 is assembled with 13 inch tubeless tyres to improve stability and control on the vehicle. The turning circle radius of Maruti Alto K10 wheels being 4.6 m helps the car to maneuver at turns and parking. The Alto K10 LXi has centre cap on wheels while the top-end Alto K10 VXi has full wheel cover. The tyre size is 155/65 R 13 .

Editor's take : The ride on the Alto is soft, yet most of the jolts filter into the cabin, due to the small tyre size. The handling of the Alto is good enough and even zipping through busy streets isn’t difficult.

Both the braking and suspension systems have been improved in Maruti Alto K10 by the company to improve the safety and control over the car. The front wheels are connected to ventilated disc brakes and the rear wheels are connected to drum brakes. Disc brakes in this front wheel drive prevent the wheels from wearing and tearing. Mcpherson Strut with Torsion Type Roll Control Device suspension are used in the front and Coil Spring, Gas Filled Shock Absorbers with Three link axle and isolated trailing arm suspension are used in the rear.

Editor's take : The Alto misses out on features like dual airbags, and at the moment only Alto 800 and Eon have these features as optional.

The new Maruti Alto K10 is provided with central locking, key off reminder, seat belts, improved braking and suspension system, front fog lamps and child locks on the rear door . A collapsible steering column is given for protection of driver during collision. Headlight leveling device has been given along with engine immobilizer through i-CATS. This prevents car theft to a considerable level. High mounted stop lamps also enhance the visibility and thus safety to the passengers. The side impact beam of Maruti Alto K10 prevents scratches from nearby vehicles. Advanced safety features like airbags, ABS and EBD are missing but overall the safety package is decent in Maruti Alto K10.

Editor's take : The Alto K10 also misses out in-built music system, but it does get power steering, power windows and air-conditioning.

An integrate music system is missing from the board. Maruti Alto K10 is equipped with an air conditioner and heater that efficiently takes care of the inside temperature. The vents are located at the dashboard in the trademark Maruti style. A lot of storage areas like vanity mirror, ash tray, sun visor, accessory socket, rear parcel tray and cup holders are present as accessories in Maruti Alto K10.
