October 31, 2014: Maruti Suzuki India will launch the next generation Alto K10 with AMT gearbox on November 3rd, 2014. Bookings of the same have already begun with an amount of Rs. 10,000. Seeing the success of Celerio, Alto K10 is coming in a new avatar along with Celerio borrowed AMT. Mechanically, the new K10 will carry forward the K series 998cc petrol motor churning out max power of 67.1bhp @ 6200rpm and a peak torque of 90Nm @ 3500rpm. Apart from the AMT, existing 5-Speed manual will be available on the new hatch. Fuel economy is likely to go up from outgoing car's 20.92km/l.
MSIL (Maruti Suzuki India Limited) is the largest car maker in the country and has a lot of splendid vehicles in their stable. The dual tone internal cabin is incorporated with well cushioned seats, which provides ample leg space for all passengers. These seats are integrated with head restraints. Its dashboard has a three spoke steering wheel, a glove box and an instrument panel that houses a lot of warning and notification for keeping the driver updated. In addition to these, it has door armrests, full molded door trims and sun visors. It also has an air conditioning unit with a heater that keeps the cabin air regulated. The car manufacturer has blessed this model series with a number of safety aspects, which keeps the occupants safe. The engine immobilizer safeguards the hatchback from theft and unauthorized entry. The rear windscreen is integrated with a high mounted third brake light that adds to the safety aspect of the vehicle. It also has three point seat belts for front seats along with two point rear center seat belt that gives extra protection in case of any crash. On the whole, it is a perfect vehicle with a lot of comfort features, good engine performance and a reasonable price range. The company is offering this hatchback with a standard warranty of two years or 40000 Kilometers, whichever comes first. At the same time, the buyers can also avail an extended warranty of one year or 60000 Kilometers at an additional cost paid to authorized dealers.

These rims are further covered with tubeless radial tyres. The rear end has body colored bumper and a stylish tail light cluster. Its curvy boot lid is fitted with black colored strip and embossed with variant badging. The windshield is integrated with a centrally located high mounted stop lamp.
The wheelbase of this Maruti Alto K10 model series measures about 2360mm that ensures ample leg space inside the cabin. Its minimum ground clearance is 160mm, which is quite decent for small cars. It has an overall length of 3620mm along with a total height of 1460mm. The total width is 1495mm (along with body side moldings), which includes both external rear view mirrors. It also has a boot compartment of 117 litres and its steering wheel supports a minimum turning radius of 4.6 meters.
Editor's take : The Alto is the bread-and-butter car for Maruti Suzuki and has very basic interiors. The space on the inside isn’t as good as the competition and the feel of the plastics isn’t that great. But the quality of the plastics is decent and things don’t fall apart.
The cabin of this model series is quite decent and bestowed with a lot of sophisticated features for comfort of the occupants. The VXI variant also has a 12V power socket in central console for charging mobiles and other electronic devices. The illumined instrument panel is integrated with a few functions for convenience of the driver. The list of features include a digital tachometer, door ajar warning, drive computer with average fuel economy and distance to empty. It also comes with a low fuel warning light, a digital tripmeter and an electronic fuel gauge and gear shift guide as well. Then it also has a speedometer with amber color illumination, fabric inserted door trims, body colored inside door handles and a stylish gear shift knob, which gives the internal cabin a decent look.
This affordable hatchback is blessed with quite a few comfort aspects that gives an enjoyable and hassle free driving experience. Both the variants are available with an air conditioning unit that comes along with a heater. This AC unit helps in regulating the temperature inside, which further adds to the comfort levels. It has a power assisted steering system that makes handling easier even in city traffic conditions. The high end trim has a manual central locking system and includes power operated front windows. It has an accessory socket that passengers can use for charging their mobile phones. The front and rear windscreens are made of tinted glass, while the outside rear view mirrors are internally adjustable. Its instrument cluster is equipped with a tachometer, electronic tripmeter and displays a few other notifications that makes it quite convenient for the driver. Besides these, it has remote fuel lid opener, rear parcel tray, cup holders, ashtray, sun visor with vanity mirror and remote boot opener.
This vehicle is designed to offer sufficient leg room to its occupants and provides comfortable seating for at least five people. The wheelbase of 2360mm is quite good and results in enough leg space and shoulder room for all occupants. It comes with a boot space of 117 litres, which is rather decent.

Editor's take : The acceleration produced by K10 is good and is as good as B+ hatchback.
This hatchback is powered by a 1.0-litre petrol mill, which is coupled with a five speed manual transmission gear box. Editor's take : Despite being a 1.0-litre engine, the K10 returns a good fuel efficiency figure. This is thanks to the K-Series engine series from Maruti Suzuki.
The 998cc petrol engine is incorporated with a multi point fuel injection supply system , which allows the hatchback to deliver 20.92 Kmpl on the bigger roads. At the same time, it gives out 17 Kmpl within the city. Its fuel tank capacity is about 35 litres, which is good for planning longer journeys.

Editor's take : The Alto K10 also misses out in-built music system, but it does get power steering, power windows and air-conditioning.
All the trims in this model series lack an infotainment system, which is a big minus but the customers can add it at an additional cost. Other accessories in this vehicle include high quality fabric upholstery for seats, internal carpets, mud flaps and a few other aspects. Customers who looks to own this vehicle can opt for styling aspects like a sporty rear spoiler, stylish body decals, premium leather seat covers, side moldings, protective claddings and many other such aspects.
Editor's take : The ride on the Alto is soft, yet most of the jolts filter into the cabin, due to the small tyre size. The handling of the Alto is good enough and even zipping through busy streets isn’t difficult.

The high end trim comes with a pair of bright fog lamps, an engine immobilizer through i-CATS (intelligent computerized anti-theft system), which prevents any unauthorized access to the vehicle. Apart from these, it has child safety locks on the rear doors, seat belts for all passengers along with lap belt for rear seat and a collapsible steering column. In addition to these, Maruti Alto K10 is loaded with features like headlight leveling device and a centrally located high mount stop lamp that adds to the safety quotient of the vehicle. The rigid body structure has side impact beams, which protect the passenger sittings inside the cabin in case of any accidents.
The flared up wheel arches of this hatchback are fitted with a set of 13 inch steel wheels that are covered with tubeless tyres of size 155/65 R13. These rims are covered with full wheel covers in VXi variant, while the other trim comes with center caps.
