May 20, 2013: BMW has recently revealed the facelift version of its flagship executive sedan, the 5-Series, which will go on sale in Australia by mid 2013. The BMW 5-Series has received some styling and features updates like additional contour lines for the surround of the BMW kidney grille, newly structure lower air intakes, extra crease on rear apron, front fog lamps with added chrome surrounds, revamped rear lights and new alloy wheels. Moreover, Xenon headlights are fitted as standard on all models. This time the car has also received a new entry-level diesel variant called the 518d internationally. The company hasn't yet announced its Indian launch plans, we are expecting the facelifted 5-Series to hit the Indian shores by the end of this year.

BMW 5 Series entered the Indian car market as a d+ segment of luxury cars. Its sedan model comes with five variants. Its powerful engines have been complemented by flawless transmission system, which ensures smooth gear changes. Apart from this, BMW 5 Series flaunts perfectly matched interiors to the temperament of each model, with cowhide surfaces on the console plus chrome accented controls, making each 5 Series sedan more luxurious than ever. In India, BMW 5 Series has launched both its petrol and diesel variants. The base variant of this car is BMW 5 Series 520d with 1995cc engine at a price of Rs 3,690,000. The second variant, BMW 5 Series 525i has a 2497cc engine and can be fetched at Rs 4,090,000. The third variant, BMW 5 Series 530d has 2993cc engine and comes at a price of Rs 4,320,000. The fourth variant, BMW 5 Series 530d Highline has a 2993cc engine and comes at a price of Rs. Rs 4,680,000, The fifth variant, BMW 5 Series 530i has 2996cc engine and comes at a price of Rs 4,620,000. BMW 5 Series has an over all length is is 4841mm, width is 1846mm, its height is 1,468mm and the wheelbase of this car is 2888mm with the fuel tank capacity of 70 litres. The safety features that are available with BMW 5 Series and that ensures a comfortable and protected ride to the occupants are mentioned here below. Apart from the driver, passenger and side airbags, the car comes equipped with improved head airbag system, which protects front and rear seat occupants. A protective curtain airbag is positioned across the side windows. The standard run-flat tyres are capable of being driven up to 250 km even after a puncture, which eliminates the need to have a spare tyre. A fall in the tyre pressure is immediately monitored by the Tyre Pressure Indicator (TPI).

"Sport" mode level automatic offers the driver control and choice for more active driving if driver wishes too. "Steptronic" mode allows manual shifting without the usage of clutch. The suspension and steering characteristics of the BMW 5 Series are for luxury and performance in all wheel drive option, like XDrive and rear-wheel drive both.
