The Volkswagen Vento, with the 1.2-litre TSI petrol motor, is available in three variants â?? Comfortline, Highline and Highline Plus. The Vento 1.2 TSI Highline was the range-topping variant in its lineup until the automaker added the Highline Plus. The Vento 1.2 TSI Highline is priced at Rs 11.34 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi as of April 4, 2017).

In terms of features, the 1.2 TSI Highline comes with a 5.0-inch Volkswagen infotainment system with a capacitive touchscreen. Besides Bluetooth phone integration and other connectivity options, the unit comes with MirrorLink support as well (mirrors select apps onto the carâ??s touchscreen). It carries forward the features of the Comfortline grade, and further adds leatherette upholstery, a multi-functional flat-bottomed steering wheel and automatic wipers. You even get a lever to adjust the front passenger seat from the rear to liberate more backseat space, electronically foldable rearview mirrors and an auto-dimming interior rear-view mirror.

As far as safety is concerned, all variants of the Volkswagen Vento, including the Vento 1.2 TSI Highline, come with dual-front airbags (driver and front passenger) along with ABS (anti-lock braking system) as standard. Like the Comfortline 1.2 TSI AT, the Highline AT additionally comes with ESP (electronic stability program) and hill-hold control (which prevents the car from rolling backwards on an incline). It rides on 15-inch alloy wheels with 185/60 cross-section tyres.

The 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine is the same motor that powers the Polo GT TSI. This engine puts out 105PS of max power and 175Nm of peak torque. Like the Polo GT TSI, the Vento too gets the 7-speed DSG (dual-clutch) automatic gearbox. The ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of the Volkswagen Vento 1.2 TSI Highline is 18.19kmpl, which is nearly 2.1kmpl more than the naturally-aspirated, 1.6-litre petrol engine. The Volkswagen Vento 1.2 TSI Highline goes up against the Honda City i-VTEC VX CVT, Hyundai Verna 1.6L SX AT and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Zeta AT among others.
