Etios 2013-2014 G SP ವಿಮರ್ಶೆ

Manufactured and assembled in India only, Toyota has introduced new C segment car Toyota Etios G. The Toyota Etios G petrol variant is the basic version of Etios series. There are many areas in which this sedan proves out to be the front runner while the lack of some basic features will definitely disappoint anyone. The 3NR, gasoline engine is the same engine that is equipped in the other variants too. There is absolutely no change in the exterior dimensions as well as the interior space but obviously the features are a bit less. Surely the suspension system is good and so are the braking and handling for Toyota Etios G. The comfort and convenience has surely many things to impress like the air filter, headrest space, speakers etc. The safety department isn’t fully configured but there are many safety features here and there, one also has the option of installing other safety features, at least that’s a relief considering that the other low end model doesn’t even support customizing and or upgrading with the safety or any other features.

Exteriors

The outer appearance of the Toyota Etios G is not something extraordinary but still it has a decent built and structure. The front grille of the car appears out as if it was smiling and is also body coloured. This car is mainly available in 7 exciting colors namely, Harmony Biege, Ultramarine Blue, Symphony Silver, White, Serene Bluish Silver, Celestial Black and Vermilion Red. Also the outer dimensions measure out to be 3775 mm X 1695 mm X 1510 mm as the overall length, width and height respectively. The wheelbase is of 2460mm. The tyre size is a little less with 14 inch size considering it as a sedan and it gives a ground clearance of 170 mm. The kerb( without the passengers or any goods) measures out to be 900 kg. The bumpers of the car are body colored so are the door handles and outside rear view mirror. The B pillar also has been blacked out. The full wheel caps, tubeless tyres and intermittent vipers have also been added. Some of the key things such as front fog lamps, skirt for front and rear bumper, roof spoiler, chrome garnish, 12 spoke alloy wheel doesn’t find any place on Toyota Etios G.               

Interiors

The interiors of this car are quite remarkably good. A Single tone of black color has been done on the fabric upholstery. While the 3 spoke steering wheel and bottle holders are great additions but the absence of rear AC vent, foldable rear seats, leather seats, and tachometer can be disappointing. Five persons can very easily sit in this car. The presence of door pockets, visor mirror on driver’s side and three coat hooks are small things but still offer a lot to some people. The fuel gate as well as the tailgate is both remotely operated. The inside rear view mirror is has both day/night support and there is a quite a big room for luggage too.           

Engine and Performance

This is the one area of the Toyota Etios G which will steal the show. The engine, the transmission, the fuel injection are of top notch quality. Under the hood it has a 3 NR – FE, 4 cylinders, 16 V, DOHC engine which is capable of producing high power and torque. The engine has a displacement of about 1197cc which is quite good. The maximum power that this car produces is 78.9bhp at the rate of 5600 rpm and the maximum torque which can be generated comes out to be 104Nm at the rate of 3100 rotations per minute. The fuel supply system also has some moderate changes as the electronically fuel injection smartly increases the car’s fuel mileage and durability of engine too. Also the EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) is capable of producing an overall mileage of 18.31kmpl. Plus the performance of car can be easily determined when one sees that how easily this car can achieve 171kmph mark quite easily.              

Braking and Handling

The Toyota Etios G comes with a good suspension system which has Mac Pherson Strut as the front suspension and the torsion beam as the rear one which is nowadays in almost every car. The front ventilated disc and the rear drum brakes are also a solid built and doesn’t let the car to skid out. The tyre type is 175 / 65 R 14 with 14 being the tyre size in inches. The power assisted steering wheel can be tilted also for our ease. Also the absence of ABS (Anti Lock Braking System) can dash hopes.  

Safety features

The Toyota has just introduced some basic safety features in Etios G model mainly to just cut the cost of the vehicle. With just the engine immobilizer, keyless entry and door ajar warning in its bag, it is certainly not the ideal choice for safe journey but the company also provides a safety package at extra cost which includes dual SRS (Supplement Restraint System) airbags, ABS (Anti Lock Braking System ) with EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution ) and Driver seatbelt warning. Also the fog lamps, parking sensors, traction control and ESP are not present on this car.          

Comfort features

The Toyota Etios Ghas some very good comfort features under its belly. The pillow type head restraint, internally adjustable ORVM, power windows, bottle holders are some of the many features.  One of the unique features that this car possess is that it has a air vent in glove compartment which makes it cool storage place to store an drinks or food. But again the absence of audio system can be a cause of frustration for some. Also there is a front outlet to charge any gadget upto 12 V. The Toyota Company has also provided 3 accessory packages which can be customized as our trendy, adventurous or joyful needs.
