Arguably, the Hyundai Verna is one of the most versatile cars in its segment, given the sheer number of powertrain combinations available. However, if you are looking at the diesel automatic, the number of options boils down to two, i.e. the AT S and the AT SX (O). Priced at Rs 13.17 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi, as of 8 May, 2017), the Hyundai Verna 1.6 CRDi AT SX Option sits atop the variant range. Compared to its manual counterpart it commands a premium of around Rs 81,000.

On the surface, the SX option is hard to distinguish from the Verna SX. Notable traits include chrome outside door handles and the leather pack. The leather pack is an interior add-on which drapes the steering wheel, gear lever, driver and console armrests in leather. It is also the only variant to get leather seats. Apart from this, it also gets a smart key with a push-button starter, rain-sensing wipers and telescopic (reach) steering adjustment. The biggest change, though, is to the safety package. While dual airbags come as standard, the SX (O) gets side and curtain airbags as well. It also gets speed-sensitive auto door locks.

Powering the Verna 1.6 CRDi AT SX Option is a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that makes 128PS of power and 260Nm of torque. The motor comes paired with a 4-speed automatic gearbox and Hyundai claims the car can manage a fuel efficiency of 19.08kmpl. For reference, that is nearly 5kmpl less than the equivalent manual variant of the Verna.
