Ford India, one of the largest automakers in the country has rolled out the revamped version of their hatchback, Ford Figo at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo in New Delhi. The company has silently introduced this new version with innovative features and created a buzz at the event. This latest hatch comes in a total of four trim levels among which, Ford Figo Petrol Titanium is the top end variant. This variant is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol motor that produces a peak power of 70Bhp, while generating 102Nm of maximum torque. This new hatch comes with an advanced communication function such as an inbuilt Wi-Fi system that enables the users to connect to the world all the time. The company is also offering this new hatch with Bluetooth enabled functions that helps users to stream audio, receive calls and read messages by just touching a button. The company has also made changes to the exteriors of this trim by revamping the fenders, front and rear bumpers, air dam and the bonnet as well. Apart from these, the company has also added some of the advanced features such as intermittent wipers, smart programmable remote key, rapid deceleration warning and other such features.

Exteriors:

The newly introduced Ford Figo comes with a fresh look as the company has made some changes to its exteriors. The manufacturer has updated the front bumper and trapezoidal shaped air dam, which will provide better air intake and adds style to the frontage. The console of the fog lights also gets a re-treatment that further adds to the bold look of its frontage. The bonnet on top gets an expressive lines and it is complimented by the chrome plated upper radiator grille and the company logo. The side profile of this hatch comes with redesigned fenders that are much bigger in size and gives a wide stance to the front, while bringing a muscular look to the side profile. These fenders have been fitted with a sturdy set of 14-inch alloy wheels that adds to the elegance of this trim. These tyres are covered with robust tubeless radial tyres, which have a sturdy grip on the road. The rear profile of this hatch gets a restructured taillight cluster and the bumper, while the design of the boot lid and windscreen have been retained. Currently, the manufacturer is offering this latest version in eight different color shades, which include Blue, Diamond White, Panther Black, Paprika red, Moondust Silver, Sea Grey, Chill and Mars Red for the buyers to select from.

Interiors:

The interior design of this latest Ford Figo Petrol Titanium trim has been borrowed from the outgoing model along with its features. However, the company has equipped this refurbished version with innovative new features that enhances the level of convenience inside. There are well cushioned seats inside the cabin and they are covered with premium fabric upholstery. The design of the dashboard is sleek and it comes equipped with lots of equipments. In a bid to enhance the style, the company has given some silver inserts on the AC Vents and central console as well. The three spoke steering wheel is mounted with phone and audio control buttons. In addition to these, there is an advanced infotainment and connectivity system installed inside that features radio player, CD/MP3 player, Bluetooth phone interface and supports connectivity for USB and AUX-In devices.

Engine and Performance:

This low cost hatch model is powered by a 4-cylinder, DOHC based, 1.2-litre petrol power plant that comes with sequential electric fuel injection system. This engine comprises of 4-cylinders, 16-valves and makes a total displacement capacity of about 1196cc . It can produce a maximum power output of about 70Bhp at 6250rpm, while yielding a peak torque output of about 102Nm at 4000rpm. This torque output is delivered to the front wheels of the hatch via a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox. The company says that the petrol powered engine has the ability to return a peak mileage of about 15.6 Kmpl, which is quite decent. On the other hand, it takes only about 14.8 seconds for the vehicle to reach 100 Kmph speed barrier from a standstill and it can attain a top speed of about 148 Kmph, which is rather thrilling.

Braking and Handling:

The manufacturer has assembled the front wheels of this hatch with a set of proficient ventilated disc brakes, while fitting the rear ones with solid drum brakes. This disc and drum braking mechanism is enhanced by the advanced anti-lock braking system along with electronic brake force distribution system, which will further reduce the loss of traction and improves the agility of this vehicle. The company has assembled the front axle of this small hatch with Independent McPherson Strut type of suspension system, while equipping the rear axle with Semi-independent twist beam type of a mechanism and it is further fitted with coil springs. On the other hand, this particular hatch comes equipped with a hydraulic power assisted steering system, which offers instantaneous response and makes the driving easy.

Comfort Features:

The Ford Figo Petrol Titanium is the top end variant in its series and it is blessed with some of the most advanced features. The list of comfort features include a proficient air conditioning system with heater, power steering system with tilt adjustable function, remote fuel filter opening, front power windows, 3-speed intermittent wipers , remote boot lid opening with electric function and other such features. The company is also offering a driver seat height adjuster function that adds to the convenience of the driver. Also there is an instrumentation panel installed inside that features digital odometer and tripmeter, distance to empty, low fuel warning, door ajar warning, tachometer and many other functions.

Safety Features:

This top end petrol trim is being offered with some of the advanced protective features unlike any other hatch in its range. The company has installed airbags for both driver and co-passenger, which will protect them from impact. Also, its braking mechanism enhanced with the ABS and EBD that reduces the risk of skidding, when brakes are applied with full force. The list of other features include front fog lamps, rear wiper/washer, rear defogger with auto cut-off, an engine immobilizer system, intelligent central locking system, 3-point seat belts for front and rear seats and other advanced features.
