Volkswagen Polo was launched in the Indian market in 2009; the car got a hold in the market and is spicing up the competition in the hatchback segement. The car has in it every feature that youth demands, advanced technology, power, luxury, and of course the most important one style. The style of the car is nowhere similar to the entrants like Fiat Grande Punto or the Hyundai i20;rather its charming with the right balance of sportiness. The Volkswagen Polo Comfortline 1.2L has unmatched interiors and exciting exterior that are going to leave you breathless. The front end of the Polo is very aggressive with smart headlamps which really sweep from around the front fenders to merge with the slim grille. The big Volkswagen batch embossed on the centre and the two chromed horizontal slats do add bit of sparkle. Not only the exterior but the interior of the car is also quite amazing as it has a two tone affair. The top half of the dash in black plastic while the bottom half in the beige color perfectly merges with the door pad design. The car under its hood has a 1.2 L 3-cylinder petrol engine which is very much fuel efficient and generates a decent amount of power and torque . As it is a comfort line variant so it lags some of the advanced features but still has in it the standard features that one could expect from a luxurious hatchback. These include the Air conditioner, power steering, power windows and central locking.

The 1198cc engine in the car can travel a distance of 12.5kmpl in the city conditions and a distance of 17kmpl on the highways . The fuel tank capacity of this hatchback is 45liters so that you can cover an average distance of 675kms. If compared to other competitors Honda Brio, Fiat Grande Punto and Hyundai i20 this car definitely has a step ahead. So it is a better option in terms of fuel economy. The engine of the car is approved by the BSIV emission norm compliance which is the Bharat Stage emission standard instituted by the Government of India to regulate the output of air pollutants from Internal combustion engine.  

Power

The car is powered by a 1.2 L 74bhp 3 cylinder petrol engine that churns out a maximum of 74bhp at the rate of 5400rpm and a maximum torque of 110Nm at the rate of 3750rpm . The power generated is good enough to provide a good acceleration to the car and a decent top speed.

Acceleration and pick up

The engine in the car produces a good amount of power and torque and can readily take the car from 0-100kmph in just 14.4 seconds and has a top speed of 162.9kmph. The five speed gearbox with the manual transmission system further improves the acceleration as it allows easy shifting of gears.

Exteriors

The all new Volkswagen Polo Petrol Comfortline 1.2L has been designed after a long research and this could be the reason why this stylish hatchback outruns the other competitors only on the bases of exteriors. The front grille adorned with the stylish headlamps and body colored bumpers make the front of the Polo look appealing. The headlamp cluster of this model is attached to the upper grille in a very typical manner making it look catchy. The body colored door handles and the Rear View Mirrors make it look a bit sporty. The car incorporates a 1.2L 3 cylinder diesel engine that produces 74bhp of maximum power at 5400rpm and 110Nm of peak torque at 3750rpm. The In-line engine with MPFI fuel Supply system is mated with a five speed gearbox and manual transmission system that readily falls into hand.

Braking and Handling

The brake mechanism of the car includes the disc brakes in the front while the drum brakes in the rear. The handling of the car include the five speed gearbox that readily falls into hand and the power steering that provides a low turn radius of 4.97m .

There is nothing in the infotainment section of the car as this is the Comfortline variant. But the high end variants of this car do have a CD/MP3 player and a roof antenna .
