Etios Liva 2013-2014 G Xclusive Edition Review
The profitable Indian hatchback segment is flooding up with new launches from many of the top automobile companies. Now the Japanese automaker Toyota has also introduced the Xclusive Edition of its flagship hatchback Toyota Etios Liva. However, the company has introduced this Xclusive Edition on the mid range platform and it is priced marginally higher than the existing mid range trim. Toyota will be offering this new edition for a limited period of time till the stocks last. The Toyota Etios Liva G Xclusive Edition trim is powered with the same 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, 16-valve based petrol mill that is currently under the hood of the existing version of this hatchback. On the other hand, its features are the same as the mid range “G” petrol variant. This new edition comes with a list of exclusive features including new premium seat fabric, Bluetooth based Audio unit with remote, 2-tone based premium interiors, a rear parking sensor, Xclusive badging and Chrome accents on the gearshift knob. Currently, this new variant is offered with just three color shades. This move made by Toyota seems like a bid to improve the sales of its flagship hatchback model in the segment. This new hatchback will now compete with the likes of Chevrolet Beat, Mahindra Verito Vibe, Tata Indica and several other hatchbacks in the entry level segment.
Exteriors:
Coming to the exterior styling and appearance, this Toyota Etios Liva G Xclusive Edition trim looks no different from the existing mid range version. However, the only cosmetic update it gets is the new Xclusive badging that adds more style and exclusiveness to the vehicle. The front facade of this Xclusive Edition trim comes with the same design headlight cluster that is very expressive and incorporated with turn indicators. In the center , there is a chrome plated radiator grille, which looks bold and adds a distinct look to the front facade. The front bumper looks very simple with a no-nonsense sort of a design and it has been incorporated with an air dam. The side profile of this hatch comes with body colored door handles and external rear view mirrors fitted to the doors. Furthermore, the wheel arches have been fitted with 14 inch steel wheels and they have been covered with full wheel caps. The rear profile remains entirely the same as the existing variant, but there is the new Xclusive edition badging that enhances the appeal of this hatchback. The design of the tail lamps, windshield and the bumper remains to be the same. On the other hand, bumper has been painted in chrome while the company logo and the trim logo has been garnished in chrome.
Interiors:
The company has introduced the limited edition variant of its flagship hatch, which is now available as Toyota Etios Liva G Xclusive Edition. This new edition comes with completely new interior color scheme, which is plush and pleasant. The design of the dashboard remains to be the same as the existing version, which houses the stylish instrument cluster above the central console of the dashboard. The dashboard also houses air conditioning system along with air vents, music system and several other utility features. The seats inside this new edition are covered by new premium fabric upholstery. There are number of utility and comfort features offered inside this hatch including an advanced reverse parking sensor system, an advanced Bluetooth audio system with a remote control, chrome accented gear shift knob and so on. The rest of the interior features include seven bottle holders, front and rear door pockets, assist grip with coat hook, day and night passenger vanity mirror and several other exciting features. The Xclusive edition features have been offered with limited number of units only and they are available across the country.
Engine and Performance:
Coming to the engine specifications and technicalities, the all new Toyota Etios Liva G Xclusive Edition sports the same 1.2-litre, DOHC based petrol trim that has the displacement capacity of about 1197cc. This engine has been designed with 4-cylinders and 12-valves and can produce a peak power of about 78.9bhp at 5600rpm and yields a maximum 104Nm of torque at 3100rpm. The company has fitted this DOHC based petrol mill with an advanced 5-speed manual transmission gearbox that sends the engine power to the front wheels. As far as the mileage is concerned, it comes with an ability to return 17.71 Kmpl of mileage, which is not so impressive.
Braking and Handling:
The company has not compromised on the braking and handling aspects of its sporty hatch Toyota Etios Liva. This exclusive edition is blessed with disc and drum brakes that are fitted to the front and rear wheels respectively. This braking mechanism functions extremely well in all road and all weather conditions and ensures perfect braking. On the other hand, its robust suspension system contributes for the agility, stability and driving comforts of the hatch. Its front axle comes fitted with the McPherson Strut type of suspension, while the rear axle has been assembled with Torsion beam type of mechanism.
