Toyota Etios J is the abase petrol model of Toyota’s loved sedan, Etios. The Toyota Etios J is top class 9in every segment be it the looks, engine, mileage or the interiors. However, being the base variant, the model misses out on some comfort features, but that could be excused as the price of the car has been kept nominal and affordable. The engine present here is 1496cc of petrol engine that is capable of churning out peak power and torque of 90PS and 132Nm respectively. The five speed manual transmission coupled with the engine is doing its job well and pushing the sedan to deliver a decent mileage of 17.6 km per litre . The exteriors of the car are notable and come with nice smooth contours in the front that are carried on till the rear end of the car. The bold wheel arches with, well carved out bumpers make sure that the sedan looks appealing and attractive. On the inside, the Toyota Etios J sedan is blessed with numerous comfort features, such as air conditioning system with heater, well-placed AC vents, remote boot and fuel lid opener, cup holders (front and rear), comfortable seating arrangement and ample of luggage storage space. All these things make Toyota Etios J a promising sedan that falls under a very practical budget.

Exteriors

The exteriors of Toyota Etios J are impressive. They are not very spectacular, but are very decent. The large, bold headlamps on the front with body colored bumper and matt radiator grille are coupled very nicely. The windscreen has rain-wipers and the roof is smooth and leveled. The side profile of the sedan is notable and comes with round body colored ORVMs and body colored door handles. The wheel arches are pronounced and the tubeless tyres with full wheel caps give it a high, prominent and attractive stance. The rear end of Toyota Etios J is attractive. The rear bumper of the car is nicely done, with very edgy and chic tail lights and high mounted stop lamp. On the whole, the exteriors of the Toyota Etios J are pleasant and properly done.

Interiors

The interiors of Toyota Etios J are quite decent. The high-quality fabric upholstery for the seats is impressive. The color theme used is very upright and sophisticated. The legroom and headroom in the sedan is ample and makes it totally comfortable for the passengers to ride in the car. The dashboard has been provided with a very elegant look, while the waterfall like centre console has well placed AC controls. For more, the steering has a good grip and the cooled glove box is present along with digital trip meter.

Comfort Features

It is very important for any car to be comfortable and relaxing. Keeping this point in mind, Toyota Motors has made Toyota Etios J quite comfortable. In spite of being the base petrol variant, the sedan has decent comfort features. The car has air cooling system with heater and clean air filter, ample of luggage storage space, sufficient legroom and headroom for the rear seat passengers, cooled glove box. However, apart from these features, Toyota Etios J is lacking some of the basic comfort features that you would like to see in your sedan. The car misses out on power steering, power windows, music system and electrically adjustable ORVMs. But, the gearshifts are very smooth and the air conditioner is very effective, that manage to cope up with the missing features.

Engine and Performance

The engine segment of Toyota Etios J is quite sound. The sedan has been powered by 1.5L 2NR-FE petrol motor that has a displacement of 1496cc. this engine is strong , bold and robust and is capable of producing peak power of 90PS at the rate of 5600rpm along with maximum torque of 132Nm at the rate of 3000rpm. The 1496cc of petrol engine present here is mated with five speed manual transmission that makes sure that the car gives out an amazing performance on road accompanied by a decent mileage of 17.6kmpl. Even on the acceleration and pickup front, the car doesn’t let down. When accelerated, the engine inside Toyota Etios J churns out power and sends it to the rear wheels. This makes the car zoom away with a top speed of 174kmph and reaches from 0 to 100 km per hour in an impressive 12.56 seconds . on the whole, technically, Toyota Etios J is not a disappointment and makes sure that it is fun on the road and amazing to drive.

Braking and handling

The braking and handling of Toyota Etios J is humble. There are a lot of things that are missing from the sedan. The major reason behind this is that because Toyota Etios J is a base variant and due to cost cutting many things have been chopped down from the mode. The handling of the car is okay but not spectacular as the car misses out on electric power steering. Apart from that, the suspension system of the car is nice, which comprise of McPherson Strut for the front and Torsion Beam for the rear axle. This makes sure that the drive in Toyota Etios J provided you a smooth and bump-free ride.  The braking system is also good and comprises of ventilated disc brakes on the front and drum brakes at the rear. Sadly the car doesn’t feature ABS, EBD and brake assist thereby making the braking department a bit on the down side.

Safety Features

The safety department of Toyota Etios J petrol is not very impressive. The car has a good braking system and seat belts. But, the sedan variant clearly lacks the advanced safety features, such as anti-lock braking system, electronic brake force distribution system, airbags or central locking system. However, the door ajar warning facility is present, but that is not enough for the sedan.
