Engine and Performance

Skoda Rapid 1.6 MPI AT Elegance comes loaded with a petrol engine that is in-line and has a liquid cooling system. The 16 V dual overhead camshaft and transverse in front type of engine offers a maximum of 103.53bhp at the rate of 5250rpm with a maximum torque of 153Nm at the rate of 3800rpm. The power and torque outputs are very impressive. The displacement of the engine is 1598cc. The valve configuration is of dual overhead cam shaft (DOHC) with a multi point fuel injection. The car can easily provide a mileage of 11.0kmpl on the city roads and 14.3kmpl on highways. This is a petrol variant with the fuel tank capacity of 55 litres. The emission emitted by the car follows bharat stage IV rules and regulations up to the mark.

Braking and Handling

In Skoda Rapid 1.6 MPI AT Elegance, the suspension system used at the front axle comprises of a Mc Pherson strut with lower triangular links and torsional stabilizer while the rear suspension features a compound link crank axle. The vehicle's brakes comprises of hydraulic dual diagonal circuit  system, which is of vacuum assisted type. The front disc brakes have dual inner cooling, with single/piston floating caliper and the rear are just drum brakes. There is direct rack and pinion electro mechanic power steering, which is very responsive. The braking and handling is great and ready to take on both on and off roads providing  great ease to all the passengers.The car comes with 6.0J x 15 wheels with tyres of size 185/60 R15 that are ideal for Indian roads. 

Safety features

The front and rear fog lights present in the car are very useful at night. The rough road package, fuel supply cut off in a crash and height adjustable head restraints at the front and rear are the new features that are introduced in the Skoda Rapid 1.6 MPI AT Elegance. The height adjustable three point seat belts at the front are very useful and the anti lock braking system (ABS) with dual rate brake assist is good. The engine immobilizer with floating code system and security code for audio player is also among the new features introduced. Some other safety features are foldable key, central locking, boot lid remote, windows, and many others.

Comfort features

Skoda Rapid 1.6 MPI AT Elegance version comes with the company made SKODA 2-din audio player. The audio player has a security code and a large format display. Also there are many front and rear speakers installed throughout the car's interior. As for connectivity options, there is auxiliary audio input for portable media players, SD/MMC data card reader. The height adjustment for driver seat, front centre armrest, rear centre armrest and height & length adjustable steering wheel are present in the car for a comfortable ride. The automatic air conditioning with electronic regulation of cabin temperature comes with adjustable dual rear air conditioning vents. These vents are also present on rear centre console. The dust and pollen filter are very nice additions not only because these eliminate bad odors but also because they provide a good fragrance too. There are electrically adjustable external mirrors as well. The windows for the front and rear can also be remotely operated. The ergo lever for front passenger seat adjustment from rear seat with spot lamps at the rear for reading while travelling at night.
