The new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R LXI is a refreshed and updated model, a smarter version than the previous models. Exteriors and interiors both have been improved. The new model has been built taking into note the requirements of a modern premium compact hatchback. This is accompanied with unmatched style, luxurious exteriors, and spacious and appealing interiors. Wagon R LXI is an extremely reliable model from Maruti Suzuki, one of the oldest and best car manufacturers of India.

Exteriors

The time-tested tallboy from Maruti Suzuki drives into showrooms again with a clean, elegant look that guarantees to turn the heads of prospective customers. While retaining the basic structural design of its former models, the new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R LXI has an eye-catching modification – a curvy body that has led to an increase in the demand for it in the Indian automobile market. The front grille has undergone considerable change and is now in a bold and attractive form, in that the grille is now narrower and has a single horizontal strip as compared to three on the outgoing model. Additionally, one sees chrome detailing on the grille while the bumpers have been restyled with larger vents and a new fog lamp housing that further enhances its appearance. The door handles are now body coloured and the back doors have a chrome finishing to them while the glasses are tinted and outside rear view mirrors are manually adjustable. The vehicle has a wheel base of 2400mm with a ground clearance of 165mm, while the turning radius is 4.6 metres.

Interiors

The Wagon R LXI is a five-seater and boasts of a new classy look. The interior of this next generation Wagon R is spacious and roomy and has fabric upholstery. It comes with pre-fitted air-conditioning with heating facility. The chrome-highlighted instrument panel of the car lends it a very stylish look. The vehicle's cabin, with a moulded roof lining and needle punch floor carpet, looks impressive . The seats too have been remodelled and redesigned to offer a comfortable drive as well as a comfortable ride for both the driver and the passengers. The host of utilities include a luggage parcel tray, sun visor (with ticket holder only on driver seat), adjustable stylish front and rear seat head rests and vanity mirror in sun visor for front seat passenger. The electronic power steering in the car allows customisation of position according to the driver's needs. It however does not have a tachometer and a digital odometer.

Engine & Performance

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R LXI is outfitted with a 1.0-litre, 998cc petrol engine which has 3 cylinders and 12 valves . It is made up entirely of aluminium and hence is a lightweight engine, which is capable of producing 67bhp at 6200 rpm and giving a maximum torque of 90Nm at 3500 rpm. The KB10 engine comes with a 5-speed gearbox that has front wheel overdrive along with two wheel drive option. The vehicle has been tested to achieve a top speed of 148 kmph. The front suspension of Maruti Wagon R LXI is of McPherson Strut with torsion type roll control device, while the rear suspension of the car has coil spring with three link rigid axle and isolated trailing arm. The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R LXI DUO has gas filled shock absorbers. The kerb weight of the car is of 870L. The vehicle is fitted with an efficient braking system: the front brakes of the car are of disc type , while the rear brake of the vehicle is of drum type, both are quite effective while driving the car.

Safety Features

Furnished with central locking and child safety locks, Maruti Wagon R LXI comes with numerous safety features. For the safety of both the passengers as well as the pedestrians, the car is fitted with both day and night rear view mirror and passenger side rear view mirror. To improve the visibility of the car, halogen headlamps have been incorporated. Cons 

The interiors of the car are not elegant enough. Besides, it affords poor rear visibility, and the backseat lacks in width.
