Ford Ecosport 1.5 Ti VCT MT Ambiente is the entry level petrol variant in this compact SUV series. Like other trims, this variant too gets some new facilities, but misses out on cosmetic updates. The new facilities are mostly functional like front power windows, tilt as well as telescopically adjustable steering column, accessory power sockets and fully fold-down rear seats. This latest version is now available with a conventional audio system featuring an FM Radio unit along with USB, AUX-In and Bluetooth connectivity as well. The exteriors as well as the interiors have been retained from the outgoing version. This base version has the same 1499cc petrol engine, which is mated to a five speed manual gearbox. Moving on to the safety section, it gets standard, yet essential features like an engine immobilizer, remote central locking with flip key and seatbelts. Being a sub 4-meter SUV is its biggest advantage, as it has created more space to offer better functionalities within a specified price tag. The manufacturer continues to offer this vehicle with the same 2 years or 100,000 kilometers warranty, whichever is first.

Exterior:

As we can see that this version gets no cosmetic updates whatsoever. To begin with the front fascia, it has a sleek headlight cluster featuring powerful lamps amplifying the aggressive nature of this facet. In the center, the radiator grille is done up in a mid-grey color scheme for added sportiness. This compact vehicle has body colored bumper fitted with claddings at the bottom, it is integrated with a large air dam, which has thick horizontal slats as well. Its side profile has black colored outside mirror caps, while its wheel arches have 15 inch steel rims with full wheel covers. The rear end too hasn't received any updates and it continues to look the same. There is a stylish taillight cluster along with a body colored bumper featuring black colored claddings affixed to it. As for the external dimensions, it has an overall length of 3999mm, 1765mm of overall width along with a 1708mm of overall height. Also, it has an impressive wheelbase of 2520mm, which ensures roomy cabin space with better legroom.

Interiors:

The interior cabin remains untouched and continues to come with a dual tone Charcoal Black and Warm Neutral Grey color scheme. The dashboard has a dynamic design with brushed metallic highlights on its center fascia and on AC vents surround. Most of its interior design has been borrowed from the Fiesta sedan. As claimed by the manufacturer, it has spacious interiors that can accommodate at least 5 adults. Its boot capacity can now be extended further, thanks to the 100 percent foldable rear seat. The convenience quotient inside has been enhanced with the presence of 12V accessory power socket.

Engine and Performance:

This base version draws the power from the same 1.5-litre petrol engine that displaces 1499cc. It can churn out a power of 110.4bhp at 6300rpm and yields 140Nm of peak torque at 4400rpm. Mated with this mill is the 5-speed manual transmission gearbox that releases the output to the front wheels. The manufacturer claims that the vehicle can return a mileage of 16.5 Kmpl.

Braking and handling:

The front wheels have been equipped with ventilated disc brakes and its rear ones have drum brakes. As for the suspension, its front axle gets an independent McPherson Strut loaded with with coil spring and anti-roll bar. While the rear axle is assembled with semi-independent twist beam type of suspension featuring twin gas and oil filled shock absorbers. Also, this SUV is integrated with a power steering system featuring a Pull Drift Compensation technology that offers better response and makes handling simpler.

Comfort features:

This entry level variant now gets some new set of facilities like an accessory power socket, front power windows and power steering with tilt/telescopic adjustment. Additionally, there is an AM/FM radio unit that is accompanied by connectivity sockets like USB and AUX-In. Furthermore, this variant also gets a Bluetooth for seamless audio streaming. Its reaming features have been carried forward from the outgoing model. Those include front courtesy lights, theater dimming rear courtesy lights, a manual air conditioning system and power adjustable outside rear view mirrors integrated with turn indicators.

Safety Features:

There are no changes made to this section, but still, this compact SUV can guard the occupants with high strength body structure. Generally in the base variant, there are not many safety features integrated. However, this utility vehicle is incorporated with the following safety aspects, which are remote central locking, an advanced immobilizer system, a locking wheel nut for spare wheels and an electric swing gate release.

Pros:

2. External appearance is far better than others.

Cons:

1. There is no ABS and EBD.

2. There are no power windows for rear.
