Tata Motors, which had recently inaugurated a new Nano production facility at Sanand Gujarat, is aiming to achieve monthly sales of 30,000 units for this small car by March 2011, reported a leading business news daily in India on Thursday. Referring to some vendor sources, the news report further added that company has asked its components suppliers to increase the supply-volume three-fold over the current level.

An official of the firm that supplies the critical components for the production of Tata Nano was quoted as saying that at present, vendors are supplying components for an average of about 10,000 units of Nano a month and now the company has asked them to scale it up by three times by March 2011. With the inauguration of Sanand plant, the company now can expand its manufacturing capacity to up to 2.5 lakh units, which will be achieved in the phased manner.

Continuing its strong run in the country's auto market, Tata Motors has replaced Hyundai India as the second largest car maker in India in the sales of June 2010. The company is now on the second spot after the country's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki. Inauguration of the new facility of Tata Nano played a significant role in increasing its total sales in this month. Company sold a total of 7704 units of Tata Nano in the Indian market during the month.
