It's a known fact that the Indian auto market is not in a good shape at the moment, which has affected the sales of all automakers including India's largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India. And this has compelled MSI to come up with different promotional schemes, finance offers and special edition versions of all its flagship cars. The special edition versions of both its top selling cars Swift and Swift Dzire were launched recently. Now to keep the momentum going, MSI is planning to launch an all new premium WagonR Stingray, which will be positioned higher than the regular WagonR models.

WagonR Stingray

The Stingray variant is already on sale in Japanese market, which was launched last year there. The WagonR Stingray version is an upmarket product and has got better fitments and features than the regular WagonR, so we can expect all the improved features to sport the India bound Stingray variant as well.

The WagonR Stingray is a much sportier version of the car, having more aggressive front fascia and muscular front and side profile, still keeping the tall boy's basic design as it is. The other changes adopted by the Stingray are deeper and thinner headlamps with much sleeker chrome strip on grille. The interiors too will be better than the existing variant with different colour scheme and integrated gear stick on the dashboard.

While speaking to ET, two people close to the development said that the Stingray is "a new upscale variant of the WagonR that would be sold along with the existing car. While the trial production is on its way, the launch should happen in the next few months."

However, nothing on the exact specifications was revealed, we hope the car to sport the existing 1.0-litre K-Series engine, which also does it duty to the current WagonR, Alto K10 and A-Star.

This is all what we have for now, stay tuned to CarDekho for all the latest updates on upcoming Maruti Suzuki Cars. Cheers!
