Hyundai India gets Corporate Social Responsibility Award

Hyundai Motor India Limited, one of the largest car-manufacturer in the Indian market, has been awarded with the ‘Corporate Social Responsibility Award'. The company was selected as the ‘Best Commercial and Industrial Institution’ for the year 2009-10. The Corporate Social Responsibility Award is one of the most prestigious awards, which was initiated by the state government of Tamil Nadu in the year 2008 in a bid to appreciate and recognize corporate service in socio-economic welfare activities.

From the company's side the award was received by MR. Sethuraman and Mr. T. M. Kumar (Trustees of the Hyundai Motor India Foundation) from Mr Shri. M.K Stalin (Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu), at a ceremony organized in Chennai. The company was facilitated with a certificate of appreciation and cash award of Rs 5 lakh.

Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), a philanthropic arm of HMIL was felicitated for its CSR activities in the field of community development, culture, education, road safety, and preservation of art and heritage.

Mr H.W. Park, MD and CEO, HMIL, said on the occasion that the company is highly encouraged by this recognition, which will reinforce its commitment to giving something back to the society that drives its sustenance. Commitment towards social responsibility is firmly rooted in Hyundai's philosophy. He added that the company has been involved with communities around Sriperumbedur but it will now look forward to expanding its CSR footprint and it will be company's endeavour to continue with community development activities in the future as well.
