According to Google India study it has been reflected that the favorite car maker among the potential buyers looking for online information is Maruti Suzuki India. Google study conducted on 'The Role of the Internet in Automotive Buying' showed that 56per cent searched for Maruti Suzuki before buying a car while 33 per cent bought the vehicle after the online search. Maruti Suzuki is followed by Honda with 46 per cent respondents agreeing that they searched information on the Honda models and 17 per cent respondents said that after the online research they bought a Honda car. Tata Motors grabbed third position with 43 per cent search which is followed by Hyundai, Ford and Toyota.
View Full Detail »Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car maker raised prices of its models by an estimated up to Rs 10,000 to recover the increase in input costs arising out of raw materials including steel. As per the current on road prices of various models the raise would range between Rs 100 to as high as Rs 10,000 per car. Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said in a statement that while the average increase in prices is of around 0.6 per cent, it varies from 0.12 per cent for the Ritz VDi at the lower end to 1.9 per cent for the Dzire LXi models but did not share the hike in rupee terms.

Now with a model life of 6 years, the model is due for a makeover and will be launched late next year at the Paris Auto Show. It will go on sale in the UK by end of 2010.
The new Suzuki Swift will come in a range of 1.3, 1.5 and 1.6L petrol engines. Indian model is currently powered by 1.3l G13B engine which will be replaced by 1.2l K series of the Ritz version.
Maruti Suzuki had recently launched its sedan model SX4 in India. Suzuki SX4 comes with VVT engine with an option of automatic transmission. The international model of Suzuki SX4 model is a compact hatchback and crossover model. This model is available as 2WD and 4WD. There are four models offered with SX4 2WD. It is available as 2.0L DOHC engine which is a bullet proof, smooth running power train. It delivers power of 150hp which is up from 143 and its fuel economy is at least 10 percent more than before.
View Full Detail »Suzuki that is all set to unveil hydrogen powered new Suzuki SX4 at the Tokyo Auto show later this month. Apart from hydrogen powered Maruti SX4 Suzuki will also launch plug-in hybrid version of its model Maruti Swift.
The Maruti Swift model will be able to cover at least 19 kms under all-electric power. The Maruti SX4 fuel cell concept of Maruti SX4 - FCV will use 80kW hydrogen fuel cells provided by General Motors but will also employ a hydrogen tank and capacitor from Suzuki engineering.
Maruti India is planning to install its latest KB Series engines in all entry level and A segment cars. This KB series engine was launched last year and it follows the latest emission norms. Mr. R C Bhargava, Maruti India's Chairman said that the plan will be executed in a phased manner for entry level cars. It may take a period of next 3-5 years. At present, the company is installing KB series engine in only latest models like Maruti Ritz, Maruti A-Star and Maruti Zen Estilo.

They anticipate 15-30% growth in sales of nearly 30 new models, double-digit growth in recent months makes them more hopeful. They are looking to achieve this without any further cash discounts as such schemes are already in the market. Hero Honda plans a number of new launches like Honda Eterno and Honda Dio and a big campaign as it plans to sell more than six lakh bikes this festival season, double of present figures. The company is involving many a dealers in this marketing drive, says Anil Dua, senior vice-president for marketing and sales at Hero Honda.
Yamaha, the rival company will launch a couple of bikes this week, including what the company claims is the fastest motorcycle in the world. Suzuki Motorcycle will start a scheme offering gifts worth Rs 3000 to Rs 65,000. Company chairman R C Bhargava, of Maruti was much more modest, predicting a double-digit growth this season. Maruti India, the country's largest car maker company reported that their entry level sedan Maruti Swift Dzire has crossed the one lakh units mark in sales within 18 months of launch.
Maruti India had launched the Maruti Swift Dzire in March 2008 in both petrol and diesel variants that ranged between Rs 4.49 lakh and Rs 6.70 lakh. The company has already scaled up production of Maruti Swift Dzire from 4,000 units initially to 7,000 units a month now.
India’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki’s has proposed to built its Indian R&D centre in Rohtak. 700 acres of land has been acquired for the purpose from the Haryana government. The land allotment agreement was signed by Maruti Suzuki MD and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi and HSIIDC MD, Rajeev Arora, in Rohtak on Friday.The upcoming facility of Maruti, which is the only such unit by Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) outside Japan, will see MSIL making an investment of Rs 1,000 crore.
100 acres will house the Suppliers’ Park and company’s vendor partners will bring in further investment in their plants at the dedicated Suppliers’ Park within the R&D complex, which will be completed by 2015.Apparently, the set-up will be developed as the parent Suzuki Motor Corporation’s global R&D hub for small cars.

View Full Detail »The lower base effect of July 2008 translated into healthy sales growth in July this year, as car makers posted increase in sales of 31% to 1.15 lakh cars last month in the domestic market over the same month last year, when sales dipped 1.7% to 87,724 cars. As per the reports from Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the auto industry is likely to perform well for the next few months in the domestic market, with strong demand expected during the upcoming festive season. Car sales were primarily led by Maruti Suzuki India, whose sales jumped 31% to 60,012 cars and the No. 2 car maker Hyundai recorded a 54% increase in sales to 23,193 cars. Mahindra sales soared to 74% and reached 11,660 units last month. The market is growing as the economy is growing strong, but the ongoing drought could play spoilsport,” said Mahantesh Sabarad, an auto analyst with Centrum Broking. Tata Motors sales rose 21% to 14,537 units in July, while Honda Siel Cars dispatches rose 20% to 4,827 units last month compared with 4,006 units sold in the same month last year. General Motors India, the Indian subsidiary of troubled American carmaker General Motors, saw sales drop 16% to 3,729. The similar growth story in sales was seen for the commercial vehicle (CV) makers, which after a gap of 11 months, posted an increase of 10% to 37,624 vehicles in July against 34,325 vehicles in the year-ago period. The growth came largely from light commercial vehicles, which grew 28% to 21,486 units in July, while medium and heavy truck sales fell 8% to 16,138 vehicles in July over last year. The CV segment only witnessed a small 1.93% growth in July 2008 and had started declining from August last year.
