Toyota Etios Interior
Interiors

Editor's take : The interiors of the Etios have undergone a major change. It now has adjustment head rest and even the quality of the product has been improved. Even though most of the changes on the vehicle there is still more scope for improvement. The instrument panel design doesn’t appeal to many.

The internal cabin of Toyota Etios is plush as it is done up with a dual tone color scheme. Its cockpit is equipped with a distinctly designed dashboard that houses an air conditioning unit, instrument panel and a cooled glove box. Interestingly, the instrument panel is placed above the center fascia, which gives a unique look to the interiors. Its leather wrapped steering wheel has three spokes and is equipped with audio and call control switches. However, these aspects are missing in the entry and mid level variants. Its cabin is furnished with well cushioned seats featuring head rests and are covered with fabric upholstery. Apart from the entry level variant, its remaining trims have driver's seat height adjustment facility along with adjustable front head rests. The elegance of its interiors is further emphasized by wood grain and fabric inserts given on door panels. There is a lot of leg, shoulder and head room available in the cabin, which gives comfortable seating for at least five passengers. Apart from all these, it gets several utility based aspects like drink holders, door pockets, assist grip with coat hook along with a day and night inside rear view mirror.

Interior Comfort:

At present, the car maker is offering this sedan in three trim levels for the buyers to choose from. Its entry level 'J' variants are integrated with a manually operated AC unit featuring clean air filter, which keeps the cabin pleasant. It also has standard features like power steering with tilt adjustment, cooled glove box unit, front cabin lights, digital trip meter and internally adjustable wing mirrors. Furthermore, it has remote operation for tailgate and fuel lid and front sun visors. In addition to these, its 'G' grade trims have three assist grips with coat hook, passenger side vanity mirror, digital trip meter, height adjustable driver's seat, pillow type rear seat headrest, 12V power outlet, central locking system and power windows with driver's side auto down function. Acceleration & Pick-Up

Editor's take : The acceleration by both the engines is good and there is no denying that it is indeed quick, especially the petrol.

Its petrol versions are perkier in terms of acceleration and pickup owing to its DOHC based engine. This lightweight engine has a lean construction and is mated with a five speed manual transmission gearbox. It allows the vehicle to reach a 100 Kmph speed mark from a standstill in approximately 12 to 13 seconds. At the same time, it propels the vehicle towards a top speed of 178 Kmph, which is quite impressive. On the other hand, its diesel engine is based on a single overhead camshaft valve configuration. It is incorporated with an intercooler and mated with a five speed manual transmission gearbox, which helps it to achieve a top speed of approximately 150 to 160 Kmph. At the same time, it accelerates from 0 to 100 Kmph speed mark in about 18 to 19 seconds.

It is based on DOHC valve configuration with 4-cylinders and 16-valves that receives fuel through electronic injection system. It can belt out a maximum power of 88.73bhp at 5600rpm along with a peak torque output of 132Nm. Mileage

Editor's take : The Toyota Etios has good mileage on the petrol and even on the diesel powertrains. The oil burner is one the most frugal engines in today’s auto scene.

All the diesel variants have been fitted with a 1.4-litre engine that has common rail fuel injection technology. This engine helps the vehicle to produce a maximum mileage of 23.59 kmpl on highways, which goes down to a minimum of 19 kmpl on city roads. Power of Toyota Etios

Editor's take : On paper, it isn’t the power produced by the Etios that amazes us, it is the power to the weight ratio that makes it quick.

The diesel versions of Toyota Etios are equipped with an SOHC based 1364cc engine that has 4-cylinders and 8-valves. This mill can belt out a maximum power of 67bhp that results in producing a peak torque output of 170Nm. On the other hand, its petrol trims have been equipped with DOHC based 1496cc engine. This power plant can churn out a maximum of 88.73bhp in combination with a superior torque output of 132Nm, which is quite good.

Since its launch in 2012, the Toyota GT86 has revitalised Toyota's reputation for building cars that are all about the pure pleasure of driving. The concept of getting back the front engine and rear wheel drive layout back was a decision made by the Japanese automaker to make a coupe of the enthusiasts. It isn’t just an efficient car but it is also fun to drive. The boxer engine is a four-cylinder 2.0-litre engine that reduces the centre of gravity for the car. The tyres of the GT86 are as thin as that on the Prius, to reduce its carbon footprint.

In the case of Toyota Etios, the facelift version is expected to be showcased around the 2016 Auto Expo. Launched in 2011, the car failed to be known as market capturer, but still was not a complete failure for the company.
