New Toyota Corolla Altis is one of the most successful models by Japanese car maker Toyota Motors. This superior mid-sized sedan is one of most desirable car for Indians customers. Engine of the new Corolla Altis petrol is 1.8L with dual variable valve timing with intelligence (Dual VVT-i). This special gasoline engine of the car is capable of delivering a power of 140bhp. This VVT-i engine is a 4 cylinder inline type with 16 valves in built, which are capable of delivering a displacement of 1798cc. The torque developed by petrol Corolla is 173 Nm and the fuel supply system to the engine is electronic. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission; however, the company introduced a super CVT-I with 7-speed sequential Shiftmatic. For the diesel car lovers, Toyota rolls out Corolla with 1364 cc D-4D diesel engine with Variable Nozzle Turbo and Intercooler. This 4 cylinder inline common rail diesel engine makes 88.4 PS of power and 205 Nm torque.   

Front suspension is Mac Pherson Strut type while the rear suspension is Torsion Beam. Steering is equipped with Electric Power Steering (EPS) technology. Presently, Corolla Altis is featured with wider and lower front character line, exterior flow line is also very distinctive. Wing mirror of the car is provided with turn indicators, parking sensors are present in the car at the front and the rear side, AC is auto climate controlled with heater, audio system is totally integrated, steering control is tilt and telescopic vision equipped. Other feature includes 8-way power front seat. The turning radius of the car is just 5.3m.

Ed's take: The Corolla Altis petrol has good acceleration, while one has to put in efforts to extract maximum power from the diesel.

Toyota India smartly puts ‘Genius Inside, Gorgeous Outside’ for Corolla Altis. One can feel the luxury that it beads at every move on road. The exterior looks of the Toyota Corolla Altis are fantastic as well as classy. The front face's fit and finish is awesome comprising of angular eye-shaped headlamp, sleek grille and front fog lamps. The eye-shape headlamps cluster consists of HID headlamps with retractable washers and turn indicators. The grille boasts of two chrome bars in the petrol variants of Corolla while it is simple chrome-less in the diesel variants. Bold lines are left for separating each part from other. Front, side and rear skirts are used to give it sportier look as well. The outside rear view mirrors are electrically powered and retractable with turn indicators. The ORVMs and all skirts are in body colour while door handle vary from body color to chrome finish in different variants. Ed's take: The interior of the Corolla Altis is basic in design and it is more of function over form.

Toyota Corolla Altis leaves nothing to imagine for interior appearance. The interior of the car is designed to give it a classic and ultra-modern look and the designers succeeded as well. From front cabin to the rear seat, everything is a result of creativity. Only the steering wheel is enough to tell you the beautiful story of its making. The steering wheel is electronically powered and has mounted audio controls . This comes in four spoke covered in leather and wood finish mixture. Multi-Information Display switch and cruise control are also there for easy and handy use. The overall interior of Toyota Corolla Altis is created with a blend of wood finish and beautiful flooring and leather covering at seats as well. The dashboard of the cabin looks superb with wood finish audio system and the meter console is Optitron 3D for better viewing. AC vents are in rectangular shape and placed at both end of the dashboard.

Inner rear view mirror is auto anti glare type. The driver seat is like a revolving chair as it can be adjusted for 8 ways and height adjustment also can be done. Seat security is also added in Toyota Corolla. A two-layer glove box is carved in the dashboard. Vanity mirrors with lamp for driver and passenger are there.  The rear seat row is split foldable (60:40). The seats are equipped with centre armrest with cup holder, door armrest in wood finish. So keeping this in mind, the company has blessed the Toyota Corolla with front ventilated disc brake and rear solid disc. The most attractive part of the interior design is its audio system features and casing. The Toyota Corolla sports in Dash 6 CD Audio with MP3/AM/FM/Aux-in . It makes rocking sound with the help of six speakers . The handsome audio system can be operated by front passenger and driver. The driver has got audio control mounted on steering wheel for easy operation. In the same way, the front passenger can operate it with a remote control.
