September 10,2014: Skoda introduces the new Yeti which now comes in two variants 4x2 and 4x4 and prices starts at Rs. 18.99 lakh for the base 4x2 and 4x4 at 20.5 (Ex-Showroom New Delhi). Yeti features a new face and sports Bi-Xenon headlamps with day-time-running-LEDs while the rear gets new LED tail-lamp. Interiors remained same with subtle tweaks. Mechanically, Yeti has remained unchanged, the crossover SUV continues to carry the 2.0 liter TDI turbo diesel. The motor is tuned in two states of tune, 4x2 version comes with 108.5bhp (110PS) and 250Nm of torque mated to five speed manual while the 4x4 version gets 138.1bhp and 320Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
Skoda Auto India, the fully owned subsidiary of the Czech Republican automaker has launched the 2014 version of its SUV model, Yeti in the country. This refurbished version is made available only on the Elegance platform, while its base and mid level variants are phased out. At the same time, this new vehicle is available in 4x2 and 4x4 versions for the buyers to choose from. Its 4x2 version is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine, which is mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox. On the other hand, its 4x4 version houses a slightly powerful engine that is coupled with an advanced 6-speed manual gearbox. Apart from these, both the variants have same set of comfort and safety features. This new version went through a major overhaul, especially in terms of its exteriors. After Skoda Octavia and Superb, this is the latest vehicle to get the company's new design philosophy with butterfly radiator grille and refreshed company's badge. At the same time, its headlight cluster is also modified and is now equipped with powerful bi-xenon headlamps along with LED DRLs. In addition to these, changed have been made to the bumpers along with wheel arches and is side moldings in order to give it a brand new look. Its 4x2 version gets a set of 16-inch Dolomite alloy wheels while the 4x4 trim gets a set of stylish Forest 16-inch alloy wheels. While updating the exteriors, the car maker has also refurbished with good quality plastic.
It also has redesigned seats for better comfort along with a modified multi-functional leather steering wheel, which adds to the elegance of its interiors. At the same time, its dashboard along with the center fascia also gets a minor tweak and is equipped with a set of advanced features. This latest version is now equipped with an advanced touchscreen infotainment system featuring Bluetooth connectivity and has an integrated 6-DVD changer. At the same time, it also gets some advanced features including tyre pressure monitoring system, cruise control along with off-road assistant functions like uphill assist and hill descent control. These new aspects will certainly make this SUV more desirable in its segment. As far as its safety aspects are concerned, this SUV gets important features like electronic stability program, park distance control and a total of six airbags. The car maker has placed in the luxury SUV segment, where it will compete with the likes of Mahindra XUV500, Tata Safari Storme and Mahindra Ssangyong Rexton.
The refurbished version of Skoda Yeti has the same body structure like its earlier version, but its refined cosmetics gives it a refreshing new look. Its front facade gets a major cosmetic update as it is now fitted with a signature butterfly radiator grille that is further embossed with company's new emblem. The headlight cluster gets an aggressive design and is now equipped with bi-xenon headlamps along with LED daytime running lights. Furthermore, its front bumper has been revised and is now equipped with a black protective cladding along with a silver colored nudge guard. In addition to these, it also houses a pair of fog lamps along with a wide air duct, which gives an aggressive stance to the frontage. The side profile also gets some refinements in the form of expressive fenders and tweaked window sills. The car maker has treated its B pillars and door handles with body color while painting the wing mirrors, A, C along with its D pillars with black color. At the same time, its roof is garnished in a non-body color, which gives a bi-color look to the vehicle. This gives a distinct new look to the vehicle and makes it more desirable. The side profile also has protective strips along with turn indicators on ORVMs, which provides additional safety. The car maker has also made changes to the rear profile, especially to its tailgate that has signature triangular design. It is accompanied by a wide windscreen along with high mount third brake light. Its taillight cluster gets a new look and it has signature C Contour design featuring LED brake lights, courtesy lamps and turn indicators. The rear bumper is in a dual tone color scheme and is further fitted with a silver painted guard along with a pair of reflectors, which adds to the protection. Not to forget its roof is skilfully fitted with a pair of silver garnished rails, which further adds to its elegance.
This facelifted version has a total length of 4222mm and an overall width 1793mm. Its height measures about 1691mm and the ground clearance stands at 180mm, which is quite good. On the other hand, it gets a large wheelbase of 2578mm, which makes the interior cabin roomy.
The newly launched Skoda Yeti has a spacious internal cabin and borrows most of the design from its outgoing model. The car maker has given a minor update to its dashboard thanks to the good quality scratch resistant plastic. Furthermore, it also has wooden inlays along with a lot of chrome inserts, which accentuates the interiors. At the same time, its center fascia is also modified for providing space for touchscreen infotainment system. The main highlight of the interiors is its classy three spoke leather wrapped steering wheel that is now equipped with audio along with Bluetooth control switches. The instrument cluster has two round shaped analog meters with thick chrome surround and it has features like a tachometer, speedometer, fuel gauge and several other notification lamps. On the other hand, its seats have been modified featuring better support for thighs, back and head. These seats are covered with premium quality leather upholstery, which gives a plush look to the cabin. The driver's seat is now provided with electrically adjustable function with memory setting for three positions. There are several utility aspects provided inside like roof mounted sunglass holder, cabin lamps, sun visors with illuminated vanity mirror, accessory power sockets and glove box unit. In addition to these, this SUV also has steel pedal set with rubber anti-slip elements, media device interface and grab handles.
Both the variants in this series are introduced on Elegance platform and are offered with advanced comfort features. Its cabin is equipped with a proficient dual zone climatronic automatic air conditioning system featuring polled and odor filter along with electronic regulation of cabin temperature. In addition to this, it also has adjustable air con vents on rear center console and under front seats, which keeps the entire cabin pleasant. Furthermore, this model series has features like electrically adjustable external mirrors with memory setting, power windows with one touch operation including bounce back system, rear seat center armrest, adjustable front center armrest and lumbar support adjustment for front seats. Apart from all these, this model also has 12-way electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory, remote control operation for door and boot lid, along with opening and closing of windows. This model series is also equipped with a KESSY (keyless entry, start and exit system) including an engine start/stop button. The car maker has also equipped features like central infotainment system featuring a multi function screen that displays information related to average consumption, service interval, outside temperature, clock, average speed and distance traveled. This refurbished model is now incorporated with advanced cruise control system, which helps in providing a stress-free driving experience. Beside all these, the car maker has provides several storage spaces like illuminated front glove box with cooling, drink holders, removable rear parcel shelf, table function on rear middle seat along with storage compartments in central consoles (front and rear).
The Skoda Yeti looks like a compact vehicle from its outside, but it is extremely spacious from inside. There is ample leg shoulder and head space available inside, which provides comfortable seating for at least five passengers. At the same it has a decent 416 litre boot compartment, which can be extended up to 1485 litres by folding the rear seat. This capacity can also be increased further to 1665 litres by removing the rear seat. On the other hand, it has a large fuel tank with a capacity of 55 litres, which helps to plan a longer trips.
The Skoda Yeti 4x4 trim houses a powerful 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine that is mated with a 6-speed manual transmission gearbox. This trim can break the 100 Kmph speed barrier in approximately 10.3 seconds. The other variant also houses the same TDI diesel mill but is coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox. This variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph speed mark in the range of 11 to 12 seconds. While both the variants have the ability to achieve a top speed of approximately 185 to 190 Kmph, which is quite good.
Both the variants in Skoda Yeti model series have been equipped with a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine that has liquid cooling system and high pressure direct injection technology. It is based on DOHC valve configuration with 4 in-line cylinders and 16-valves that displaces 1968cc. This engine is also houses a turbocharger with self-aligning blades, which helps it to produce a maximum power of 108.5bhp at 4200rpm along with a commanding torque output of 250Nm between just 1500 to 2500rpm. This power plant under the hood of 4x2 trim is coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox that delivers the torque output to the front wheels. On the other hand, its 4x4 version sports a slightly powerful mill, which can belt out a superior power of 138bhp at 4200rpm and unleashes a peak torque of 320Nm between 1750 to 2500rpm. This motor is skilfully mated with a 6-speed manual transmission gearbox that works in collaboration with Haldex Clutch to distribute torque output automatically to all four wheels in 4x4 layout.
The facelifted version of Skoda Yeti is fitted with a powerful 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that has high pressure direct injection system. This engine has the ability to produce a maximum mileage of 17.72 kmpl on highways, which goes down to a minimum of 14 Kmpl on city roads. On the other hand, its 4x4 version houses a slightly powerful mill that can deliver a mileage in the range of 15 to 17.67 Kmpl, which is quite good.
Both the versions in this series have been equipped with the same 1968cc engine, but the power output varies between them. This engine is integrated with a liquid cooling system along with a turbocharged featuring self-aligning blades. The 4x2 variant can produce a maximum power of 108.5bhp that helps in generating a peak torque output of 250Nm. While the same motor in 4x4 trim can develop a commanding 138bhp in combination with a hammering torque output of 320Nm, which is impressive.

This model series is equipped with an advanced Skoda audio player that has touch controls on 6.5-inch LCD TFT display. It is also integrated with a six-disc CD changer along with eight speakers, SD card slot and multimedia device interface with USB. Furthermore, it has AUX-In socket and port for iPod device which contributes towards high end entertainment. In addition to these, there is Bluetooth connectivity for audio streaming, facility for GSM telephone preparation with controls switches mounted on steering wheel. This facelifted version of Yeti is fully loaded with all the accessories and equipments and there is no need for installing any additional aspects. However, the car maker is offering a list of optional features like connecting cable for MDI, a 15-litre cool box, a handy mobile holder, rubber boot mat, clothes hanger and netting system for luggage compartment. In addition to these, it has styling aspects like aluminum garnished side door sill cover, rubber bumper protection, mud flaps and stainless steel exhaust pipe.
This SUV is blessed with a proficient hydraulic dual-diagonal circuit vacuum assisted braking system that is loaded with single piston brake calipers. It is further assisted by anti lock braking system including electronic brake force distribution and hydraulic brake assist system. This vehicle also is also integrated with traction control programs including anti-slip regulation, electronic differential lock, and direct steering recommendation. In addition to these, it also has off-road assistant functions like hill descent control and drive-off assistant, which make handling quite convenient. Its front axle is fitted with McPherson strut suspension including lower triangular links and torsion stabilizer. While the rear axle is paired with multi-element system featuring one longitudinal and three transverse links including torsion stabilizer. Not to forget that the company has also integrated a direct rack and pinion based electro mechanic power steering system that supports a minimum turning radius of just 10 meters.
This 2014 Skoda Yeti has been incorporated with several sophisticated safety features, which provides unparalleled protection to the vehicle and its occupants. Its internal cabin is loaded with eight airbags including dual front, side and curtain (for front and rear), which minimizes the damage caused in case of a collisions. In addition to these, it has restraint systems including occupant detection system for front passenger with seatbelt warning light, front seatbelts with pre-tensioner, height adjustable head restraints and ISOFIX child seat mounting. On the other hand, it has security functions including engine immobilizer with floating code and security code for central infotainment system. Furthermore, it has remote control operation for closing and opening of doors along with locking and unlocking of doors.
The 4x2 version of Yeti is equipped with a set of 16-inch 'Dolomite' alloy wheels, while the 4x4 version is offered with 'Forest' rims. These are covered with a set of high performance tubeless radial tyres of size 215/60 R16, which provides excellent grip on roads. At the same time, it is also offering a 16-inch steel spare wheel that is covered with 195/60 R16 sized radial tubeless tyres.
