Nissan Evalia is a perfect Multi-Purpose vehicle that will suit every Indian family, be it for long drives or comfortable ride with a gang of friends. Nissan used the Auto Expo 2012 platform very intelligently. There is ample of space for large families as it can comfortably adjust 7 adults with utmost ease and comfort. The auto giant unveiled its much hyped made in India MPV, Nissan Evalia, previously known as Nissan NV200 during the Auto show itself. This multi-purpose vehicle was revealed by the Vice-president of Nissan Middle East, Africa and Indian, Mr. Gilles Normand. Even Bollywood’s hot actor-Ranbir Kapoor was present at the unveiling.

Nissan India already floats hatchback-Nissan Micra and a sedan Nissan Sunny along with three CBU vehicles. So far the production of Nissan Evalia hasn’t begun, but it is expected to trigger off in the second half of 2012 at the Nissan manufacturing plant located near Chennai. Along with Nissan Evalia, Nissan India also introduced Nissan GT-R and its much anticipated electric car, Nissan Leaf at the Auto Expo 2012, but Nissan Evalia was surely a show stealer there.

Nissan Evalia certainly impresses with its simple styling. The tall upright stance, slender front doors and short bonnet area makes it look attractive and appealing. The major highlight here is its serrated grille and new sleek angular headlamps.However, the USP of this MPV is its sliding rear doors giving it a van like appearance. The box-shaped rear end is kept clean and simple with the tail lights being placed lower down.A total thumbs up can be given for Nissan Evalia for its passenger space. Going into a little detail of Nissan Evalia, the car will directly compete with Mahindra Xylo, Toyota Innova, Maruti Ertiga and Mercedes Benz R Class. On the global front, Nissan NV200 was honored with the award of ‘International Van of the year’ in 2010. With such a prestigious award, the MPV surely hold up something special.

Nissan Evalia comes powered with the 1.5 DCi diesel motor that has been borrowed from Nissan Sunny diesel. The powerful engine generates about 85 BHP of power at the rate of 3750 rpm along with maximum torque of 200 Nm at the rate of 2000 rpm. The engine is then coupled with the five speed manual transmission that enhances the overall driving experience for the owner.

Besides such impressive diesel engine, the MPV is loaded high-end features, which includes intelligent key, rear view camera, power steering, advanced integrated air conditioning system along with an audio system, black color ORVMs, front disc, rear drum brake, front fog lamps, alloy wheels, rigid rear forks, strut front suspension, power window and foldable rear seat row thus increasing the boot space for keeping more luggage. Nissan India has also taken care of the safety of the car and its passengers by providing antilock braking system along with EBD, SRS dual front airbags adds more safety.

Nissan Evalia is surely larger when talking about the passenger space and luggage compartment, and aims to target Toyota Innova. This is evident from Evalia’s wheelbase which is 2725 mm-quite close to Innova’s 2750 mm. The exterior appearance of Nissan Evalia is pretty appealing and simple. The front end of the MPV has a sloping shape towards the bumper whereas the nose of the car surely appears to be smiling, all thanks to the front grille and the triangular shaped multi-reflector halogen headlamps. The lower segment of Nissan Evalia looks elegant in black lower air dam fixed in body color bumper which also houses fog lamps that have been shaped in round. The door handles as well as the diamond shaped ORVMs looks amazingly unique. Coming to the rear end of the MPV, the Evalia is flat and comes with two reflectors and a high stop lamp to ensure safety in the dark. The tail lamps have been placed a bit higher to rear bumper but overall are lowly placed at the rear.

The interiors of Nissan Evalia are sophisticated and very neat. It boasts of a 2+3+2 seating arrangement. The front cabin has a pleasing to the eye dashboard accompanied with instrument panel, centrally positioned music system, air conditioning vents and glove box. The three spoke power steering is smooth and makes sure fabulous driving experience to the owner. In its entirety, the new Nissan Evalia was one of the main attractions at the Auto Expo 2012 and received an impressive reaction from the audience so far. The Nissan Evalia diesel will have a 1.5 dCi, 4 cylinder, common rail direct injection engine will produce a top power of 85 bhp at 3750 rpm and churns out a peak torque of 200 Nm at 2,000 rpm; it will be mated with a 5 speed manual transmission. Nissan Evalia will have a fuel tank capacity of 55 litres. Although, diesel engine will surely be quite frugal, exact mileage figures for Evalia would be too early to guess, stay tuned to know more.

Evalia is Nissan’s first Urban-Class Utility Vehicle. The new MPV from Nissan, Nissan Evalia will be fitted with 1.5 litre DCI turbodiesel engine. Nissan Evalia is built on B-platform, developed by Nissan-Renault. The diesel engine used here is also seen in Nissan Sunny. The engine output will be 85 bhp of power at 3750 rpm and 200Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. The engine will have five speed manual transmission.

The 'Van of the year 2010', Nissan NV200 is going to be available with metallic and non-metallic colour schemes in India. But there is no official conformation about the colour schemes,

Nissan Evalia has been introduced in the Nissan India’s portfolio in 2012 and will be the first MPV from the car maker. It has the typical MPV design from both its exterior and its interior. The front of the car has got a smiling faced chrome grille, angular multi-reflector headlamps, round shaped fog lamps placed at both sides of lower portion, black air dam. The upper grille comes with three chrome slats and centrally positioned company logo. The diamond shaped ORVMs are painted in body color with black stalk along with door handles. The side strip lies between the B and C-pillars.

Evalia will come with rear view camera at the rear. The rear side of the Nissan Evalia has a simple and boxy appearance reminding of Maruti Omni. The tailgate opening is wide to allow you to load large sized items. The rear bumper is in black treatment and comes with two tiny reflectors while a high stop lamp is placed at the top of the rear side roof.

The Nissan Evalia, the MPV body type car that comes with an overall length of 4400 mm, width of 1695 mm and height of 1880 mm. It will have a wheelbase of 2.73 mm and ground clearance of 158mm.

As per information, the diesel variant of Nissan Evalia will be loaded with a 1.5 dCi, 4 cylinder, common rail direct injection mill that develops maximum power of 85 hp at 3,750 rpm and lays out a top torque of 200 Nm at 2,000 rpm. The turbo charger engine will be coupled with a five speed transmission. The other engine option can be petrol version, packed with a 1.6 HR16DE, 4 cylinder powertrain that churns out top power of 106 bhp and top torque of 153 Nm via a five speed manual transmission.

The upcoming MPV from Nissan, Nissan Evalia comes fitted with 14 inch wheels that have steel covering. The tyre specification reads 175/70R14C, while optional alloy wheels setting is also available in the international market. The same type of tyre configuration is expected in India as well.

The much-awaited Nissan Evalia will come assembled with front disc brakes and rear drum brakes that has become a sort of tradition in the auto industry. The front disc brakes are also desirable as most of the braking is done on the front wheel. The braking system of the MPV is also added with ABS, EBD with brake assist.
