August 28 , 2014 : BMW launched the facelift version of X3 at Rs 44.90 lakh for X3 xDrive20d Expedition model while X3 xDrive20d xLine is priced at Rs 49.90 lakh. The new BMW X3 adorns exterior updates such as chrome grille, redesigned bigger twin-circular headlamps, revised front and rear bumper, new taillamp cluster and new sporty alloy wheel design. The new BMW X3 ditches the xDrive30d model which was powered by 3.0-litre engine, but now the X3 SUV is only offered with 2.0-litre engine which develops a power of 190bhp.
BMW India has launched the refurbished version of its mid level SUV model, X3 in the country. This newest version went through a major overhaul terms in of both exteriors and interiors. It also gets some minor technical update, which makes it slightly powerful. However, all the comfort and safety features have been retained from the outgoing model. At present, the manufacturer is offering this vehicle in two variants with a refined 2.0-litre diesel engine as standard under the hood. The top end trim is christened as xLine, while the entry level variant is badged as Expedition. To start with its interiors, the high end variant gets an exclusive xLine package, which includes door sills with variant lettering, 'X' stamp on head restraints and a stainless steel sill in luggage compartment. At the same time, both the variants gets a high gloss finish for its central console along with slightly tweaked cup holders. In addition to these, this model series is blessed with new seat upholstery, which gives a refined look to the interiors. The main highlight is its exteriors as it went through a major overhaul. Its headlight cluster is wider and houses slightly improved twin-circular headlamps. At the same time, its kidney bean grille gets a fresh new look and is treated with aluminum. The car maker has also updated the bonnet with expressive lines that adds to the elegance of its frontage. Apart from these, its bumpers along with its taillight cluster have also been modified, which gives it a bold appeal. Both the variants in this series have been blessed with a slew of advanced features including a two zone automatic air conditioning system, BMW ConnecDrive featuring high resolution touchscreen display, and park distance control. This model series is also incorporated with BMW driving experience control function that has three drive modes like ECOPRO, Comfort and Sport. While the top end variant also has 'Sport+' mode, which further improves the driving experience. These change the performance of the engine by recalibrating the mechanism of accelerator, suspension, gearbox and braking. On the other hand, this vehicle is also equipped with several utility based aspects like adjustable front seats, storage compartment and a multi-functional steering wheel. As far as its safety features are concerned, both the trims get sophisticated aspects including active head restraints, airbags, 3-point seat belts and electronic vehicle immobilizer. This SUV will lock horns with the likes of Audi Q5, Mercedes Benz ML Class and Volvo XC60 in the Indian automobile market. It comes with a 2-year standard warranty period regardless of its mileage. At the same time, it also has a 12-year warranty period for its body work and three years for its paint.
The facelifted version of BMW X3 has a breathtaking external appearance owing to its newly designed signature cosmetics. The car maker has given a major update, especially to its front and rear profiles rendering it a sophisticated look. Its side profile too has a set of newly designed lightweight Y-spoke alloy wheels, which further emphasizes its sporty appeal. On its front facade, its headlight cluster is modified and is equipped with a refined twin-circular headlamps along with turn indicators and daytime running lights. In the center, its radiator grille is redesigned and is done up with satinated aluminum. Not to forget that the front bumper also gets fresh new design with trendy dual tone color scheme, which gives a dynamic look to the front facade. The side profile looks mostly identical to its previous model but the updated window lining and tweaked ORVMs gives it a stylish appeal. Also, there are aluminum strips fitted to the side body claddings, which provides additional protection. The elegance of side profile is further enhanced by high gloss black embellishments on B and C pillars. Its rear end gets a revised taillight cluster that is equipped with a new lighting pattern. The dual tone rear bumper is further equipped with protective cladding along with a pair of reflectors and tailpipe.
This SUV has a total length of 4657mm and height of 1678mm, which are increased by 10mm and 17mm respectively. However, its overall width is reduced by 10mm to 2089mm (including external mirrors). While its ground clearance and the wheelbase measures to be same with at 212mm and 2810mm respectively.
This newly introduced BMW X3 has a spacious interior cabin with improved head and leg room. Both the variants in this series gets the same design that is further emphasized by high-gloss black embellishments on instrument panel and on its center fascia. However, the Expedition trim gets a Fineline light wood inserts, while its top end variant has burled walnut inserts. At the same time, its high end trim is bestowed with an improved Nevada leather upholstery featuring 'X' stamp on its head restraints. Its dashboard is equipped with aspects like a storage box, AC unit and an infotainment system. It is also incorporated with a three spoke multi-functional steering wheel that has leather cover. The car maker has equipped electrically adjustable seats for front passengers and provided it with lumbar support. While the rear bench seat can be folded in 60:40 split ratio, which helps to extent boost storage capacity. There are number of utility based features installed inside the cabin like accessory power socket, inside rear view mirror, panoramic glass roof, storage compartment package and through-load system.
Both these variants have been incorporated with a 2-zone automatic air conditioning system including rear air con vents, which keeps the ambiance pleasant. They also have a list of other features including engine start and stop button, driver’s seat with memory setting and roller sun blinds for rear side windows. In addition to these, this model series is incorporated with multifunctional leather steering wheel, and an inside rear view mirror with anti dazzling effect, automatic driving lights, all four power windows with one touch operation and electrically adjustable outside mirrors with anti-dazzle, heating and memory function as well. The car maker has also installed features like a cruise control system featuring braking function, which offers a stress free driving experience. Not to forget, its BMW Driving Experience control is the most advanced feature that provides desired driving style with the help of ECOPRO, Comfort and Sport modes. Apart from these, its top end xLine trim also has features like storage compartment package, rear center armrest with two cup holders and two 12V power sockets.
This vehicle has a huge cabin space inside that can host at least five passengers along with luggage. Its cockpit section has a total headroom of 1033mm along with 1483mm of wide shoulder space. While the rear cabin gets 994mm of head space and 1458mm of total shoulder space, which is quite good. There is a 550 litre boot storage available, which can be extended further by 1600 litres by folding the rear seat in the desired split ratio. On the other hand, this vehicle is fitted with massive fuel tank that has 67 litres.

Its refined engine is integrated with a twin-power turbocharged unit, which is paired with an advanced 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission gearbox. This helps the engine to zoom towards a top speed of 210 Kmph, while breaching 100 Kmph mark in just 8.1 seconds.
This 2014 BMW X3 is introduced with an improved 2.0-litre, in-line diesel engine that has 4-cylinders and 16-valves. It is based on a DOHC valve configuration and has a high pressure common rail direct injection system. The car maker has also installed the a twin-power turbocharger, which helps this motor to unleash a maximum power of 190bhp at 4000rpm and generates a commanding torque output of 400Nm between 1750 to 2750rpm. This refined diesel engine is paired with an advanced 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission gearbox that works in collaboration with xDrive intelligent 4WD system to deliver torque output to all four wheels. While the top end xLine trim is further integrated with performance control function that influences the power distribution and braking of individual wheels to deliver exceptional on-road performance.
This SUV is available with 2.0-litre diesel engine option only, which have been given minor tweaks. This has helped it to be more fuel inefficient and produces a maximum mileage of about 18.56 Kmpl , which is 2 Kmpl more than its earlier model.
Its diesel mill comprises of 4 in-line cylinders based on a DOHC valve configuration. As a result of its technical updates, this mill can now produce a superior power of 190bhp along with a peak torque output of 400Nm, which is about 6bhp and 20Nm more than its outgoing model.

German car manufacturer BMW launched the facelifted X3 in India yesterday. Priced at INR 44.90 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base xDrive 20d expedition variant, the Bavarian SUV competes with the likes of Audi Q5, Freelander 2 and the recently updated Volvo XC60.
