The German luxury car maker, BMW is all set to introduce the BMW 2 Series, which might also make its way to the Indian market. BMW went all about teasing the images of the all-new 2014 Series Coupe, and for the first time brought the car for public appearance. The leaked out images certainly reflects the beautiful vehicle walking down the local market in the near future. The official debut of the vehicle is dated on 25th October'13. For the Indian market, the coupe will arrive in three different designed models- 220i, 220d and M235i. The company went about disclosing the front fascia, front three-quarter and side view of the M235i model. These pictures revealed on the web world are certainly creating lot of excitement before its launch. This is one such strategy which is adopted by many automakers to pump up the excitement level just before the launch of the vehicle. The air of curiosity around the launch date definitely puts an advantage front for the company. The BMW 2 Series Coupe comes with better mileage figures, which makes it very strong contender in the segment.
Talking about the BMW M235i variant, its engine configuration comprises of 3.0-liter six cyclinder N55 TwinPower engine, which is efficient to generate maximum power output of 322bhp and 450Nm of top torque between 1300-4500rpm. Excellent driving experience is a sure thing to be delivered in the form BMW 2 Series Coupe. The M235i from the line will come mated with both manual transmission and automatic transmission, which allows an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph, and the takes a quick time of 4.8seconds with automatic transmission to reach the 100kmph. While with the manual gearshift option, the vehicle takes 5 seconds of the quick time to reach 100kmp mark from still position. Looking at the side view of this particular variant, the external measurement comes out to be 4454mmx1774mmx1408mm (length x width x height) and has the wheelbase of 2690mm. Moving to the next model, the 220d Coupe's images from the range has not yet been revealed by the company, but its technical specifications are out. The diesel model from the series is powered with 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder unit, that allows a total power output of 181bhp and 308Nm of top torque. The variant features automatic transmission, with a top speed of 230kmph and it goes 0-100kmph in mere 7.1seconds. The 220d Coupe is tuned to return fuel efficiency of 22.2kmpl with manual transmission gearbox, and with automatic transmission it is claimed to deliver fuel economy of 23.8kmpl. Dimensionally the vehicle measures, 4432mm x 1774mm x 1418mm (length x width x height), wheelbase is 2690mm and ground clearance measures 140mm. The 220d Coupe also features ventilated disc at the front wheels, and rear gets the same disc brakes. Such braking mechanism is proved to very efficient with the braking functioning, even in the case of sudden braking action it works well.
The third guise of the line up, 220i is the petrol powered model. It sports 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine, which has the ability to churn maximum power output of 181bhp and 270Nm of peak torque. Also available with both manual transmission and automatic transmission, the 220i delivers mileage figures of 16.33kmpl(manual) and 17.5kmpl (automatic). The top speed of 235kmph is measured with 220i, while it takes merely 7 seconds to cross the 100kmph benchmark from standstill. As far as external dimensions are concerned, length is 4432mm, width measures at 1774mm and an overall height of 1418mm is fixed. The wheelbase of this variant is 2690mm and gets a ground clearance of 140mm.
Following the three new engine introductions with the Active Tourer model, BMW has made another update to its 2-Series line-up. The German manufacturer has now replaced the 2.0-liter diesel unit in the 220d Coupe, with a new power unit of same displacement.
BMW has expanded its 2-Series Active Tourer line-up, with the addition of three new turbocharged engines and an all-wheel drive system. A four-cylinder petrol engine in the 220i, and a three-cylinder and four-cylinder diesel mill under the hoods of 216d and 220d respectively, has joined the former 2-Series' portfolio comprising of 218i, 225i and 218d.

The new Convertible in the 2 Series range further sweetens the deal with compact sport driving dynamics with the wind-in-your-hair experience. The 2 Series Convertible has got classic proportions with front engine, rear wheel drive, BMW agility and a wide open top. You might wonder that slicing the top off the 2 Series Coupe might have affected the rigidity of the entire frame, but we are happy to report that torsional rigidity of the body has increased by almost 20 percent compared to its predecessor.
