2024 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 Launched At Rs 3.35 Crore

The flagship SUV from the German luxury carmaker now comes with a 4-litre twin-turbo V8

The facelifted Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC has been launched in India and it is priced at Rs 3.35 crore (ex-showroom). It offers the same luxurious cabin experience as before, along with a slightly tweaked design, but now comes with a bigger engine under the hood. Here is all you need to know about the updated GLS Maybach.

Design

At the front, the design changes are minimal. The grille is just as big as before but has been slightly tweaked, and the front bumper now gets a sleeker look. Also, the air dams now have small Maybach logos.

From the side, there are no major changes to the design, though you have the option of multiple alloy wheels design, which can go up to 23-inches in size. With the Maybach GLS, you also get a retracting side step, which comes out as soon as you open the door, for easier ingress-egress from the massive SUV.

The rear end now looks subtler with the design changes, and gets a slightly redesigned bumper, a lot of chrome elements, and fake but stylish vents.

Cabin

Even on the inside, while extremely luxurious, not much has changed with the updated Mercedes-Maybach GLS save for the new steering wheel. The dashboard, AC vents, and the centre console remain the same, and the India-spec version only gets a 4-seater configuration, with lounge-like seats and an extended centre console between them.

The luxury of this cabin is enhanced by the fact that the rear seats can be reclined similar to first-class airplane seating, and you have the option of massage function, along with heat and ventilation.

Features & Safety

To name a few, the GLS Maybach comes with features like a dual integrated screen setup on the dashboard, the latest-generation MBUX digital assistant, four-zone climate control, wireless phone charger, all heated and ventilated seats, a 13-speaker Burmester sound system, electric sunblinds, panoramic sunroof, and dedicated screens for the rear passengers. Then we have the luxury elements like the fridge in the rear with champagne flutes.

In terms of passenger safety, the SUV offers multiple airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), and a whole suite of level 2 ADAS features like lane keep assist, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and autonomous emergency braking. It also has clever adaptive air suspension that actively adjusts on the go to deliver the most comfortable ride possible for the occupants.

Powertrain

This is the aspect of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS that has been changed the most for the 2024 version. The Maybach GLS now comes with a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, which is also under the hood of some of its AMG performance cars like the GT63 S E Performance and the AMG S63 E Performance.

In the Maybach GLS 600, this engine makes 557 PS and 770 Nm, and is assisted by a 48V mild-hybrid setup, which gives it a boost of 21 PS and 250 Nm. This engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission in an all-wheel-drive system, that gives the SUV the performance needed to sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.9 seconds.

Rivals

With this much to offer and prices starting at Rs 3.35 crore (ex-showroom) before customer-specific customisations, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 is a rival to the Range Rover SV, Bentley Bentayga, and Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
