One of the India's largest automobile manufacturer, Tata Motor Group has officially rolled out the CNG variant of its flagship hatchback Tata Indica. This emax range vehicle has been introduced in two trims out of which, the Tata Indica Emax CNG GLX is the top end variant. This particular variant is blessed with a BS IV compliant 1.2-litre petrol power plant, which works with bi-fuel petrol and CNG options. The company claims that the vehicle can produce segment's best mileage figure of about 23.7 Kmpl, which will lure many of the auto enthusiasts. Currently this CNG version of Tata Indica is offered only in Mint White color shade. Furthermore, the company has enhanced the body style of this vehicle with new stylish decals on its body. Tata Motors is selling this emax range vehicle in only 6 Indian states including Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Tripura. This CNG variant from Tata Motors comes at a very affordable price tag, which will help the budget car buyers across the country. In terms of interiors, the company retained the dual tone scheme of Black and Beige combination, which is complimented by the silver metallic finish on the central console. Most of the features of this vehicle are also retained from the existing GLX variant.

Exteriors :

This new Tata Indica Emax CNG GLX trim has the same exterior features and body design as the other existing variants in its model series. However, the company is selling this particular emax range vehicle with only Mint White exterior body paint option and it is further beautified with stylish body decals. To start with the front profile of this hatch, there is a chrome radiator grille fitted in the center of the front profile, which is further decorated with the Tata logo. Surrounding this chrome grille are the Motorized clear lens headlamps that comes incorporated with powerful halogen bulbs and turn indicators. The front bumper is painted in body color while the air dam fitted to it comes in black color. The front bumper is further fitted with round shaped fog lights. The side profile of this hatch comes with body colored ORVMs and door handles wherein the ORVMs have been incorporated with turn blinkers. Furthermore, the stylish body decals enhances the stylish appeal of its side profile. The rear profile of this hatch remains entirely the same as the other existing variants. However, this particular trim is blessed with a new chrome garnished strip on its boot lid that gives it a distinct look.

Interiors :

Coming to the cabin section, this new Tata Indica Emax CNG GLX trim comes with a plush and dual tone environment with Black and Beige scheme. Here the dashboard has been garnished in the Ebony Black scheme, while the central console has been accentuated in Silver Metallic paint. This hatchback trim has been blessed with wide and spacious seating arrangement, where the seats have been covered with partial fabric upholstery with beige color scheme. The four spoke steering wheel gets the Ebony Black color garnish, while the gear shift selector gets the silver accents. There are number of equipments and features incorporated inside the cabin, which includes a tachometer, front cabin light with 2 spot lights that has theatre dimming effect, 60:40 Flip-flop rear seats, parcel shelf, vanity mirror for the front co-passenger side and an advanced car infotainment system. Engine and Performance :

Tata Motors, the Indian automobile company blessed this Tata Indica Emax CNG GLX trim with a 1.2-litre bi-fuel based engine that runs with both petrol and CNG fuel options. This engine has been designed with 4-cylinder and 8-valves and incorporated with MPFI fuel supply system. This SOHC based engine produces 1193cc of displacement capacity that unleashes it to produce commanding power. In petrol mode, it can produce 64.11bhp of peak power output at 5000rpm and generates 100Nm of maximum torque output at 2700rpm. When switched to the CNG mode, it generates 55.23bhp of peak power at 5200rpm, while yielding a maximum 90Nm of torque at 2650rpm. The company has coupled this bi-fuel engine with a F-shift 5-speed manual gearbox that delivers the engine power to the front wheels and produces a maximum 23.7Kmpl of mileage.

Braking and Handling :

Despite being a low cost hatchback in the automobile segment, the new Tata Indica Emax CNG GLX trim gets a sophisticated braking system. Tata Motors is offering this hatch with a dual circuit, diagonal split hydraulic braking system with the combination of ventilated discs and drums. Here the front wheels are fitted with ventilated discs brakes, whereas the rear wheels are assembled with drum brakes. On the other hand, the front axle comes fitted with Independent, Lower Wishbone , McPherson Strut type of suspension and the rear axle comes fitted with Independent, Semi-Trailing Arm that is loaded with coil springs. This robust suspension system will enhance the stability of the vehicle and makes it easy for the driver to handle the vehicle. In addition to this, the Tata Indica Emax CNG GLX trim is blessed with Rack and Pinion steering system. The turning radius of this hatchback is 4.9 meters.

Comfort Features :

As far as the Comfort features are concerned, this trim is blessed with most of the basic and standard features that pays complete value for money. The company has blessed this particular variant with features such as a responsive power steering system, air conditioning unit with heater, all four power windows, front power outlet , fixed lumbar support for front seats, 2-way adjustable for front seat headrests, vanity mirror for co-passenger, parcel shelf, 60:40 Flip-Flop rear seats and a few other aspects as well.

The company is offering this particular variant with some of the most sophisticated safety functions that takes care of all the occupants as well as the car.
