After unveiling the Kwid Climber at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo, Renault finally launched the small car in the country at Rs 4.30 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). However, the carmaker hasnt played too much with its mechanicals and the changes are mostly cosmetic. Based on the range-topping RXT (O) variant of the Kwid, the Climber now becomes the most expensive variant in its line-up. However, the million dollar question now is, is it worth spending Rs 25,000 more over the regular Kwid RXT (O)? Lets dig deeper to find out.

Exterior

The new Renault Kwid Climber is decked out with some funky accessories and retains the character of the stock Kwid. The Climber variant looks quite beefed up, thanks to the contrasting orange ORVMs, bumper overriders, front and rear bumper terrain protectors, roof bars and faux skid plates with a hint of orange shade. Moreover, it gets new wheels with new wheel caps that make them look like alloys. There are Climber decals on the front door and the rear windshield. The Climber is further equipped with door protection cladding and gets a new Electric Blue shade, besides the regular Kwids Outback Bronze and Planet Grey colours.

Interior

The feel good factor of the Kwid Climber seeps inside as well. And of course, the most noticeable aspect is the use of the orange inserts across the cabin, which is actually good as it clearly differentiates the Climber from its standard cousin. Termed Orange Energy, the upholstery looks fresh and is able to make the cabin look appealing. The steering features Climber insignia and gets orange perforations which add a sporty character to it. Other areas dipped in orange include AC vents, dashboard, gear lever and the sides of the seat covers. The Climber imprints are also present on the seat covers.

Engine and Performance

Since its based on the top-end RXT (O) variant, the Climber is powered by the same 1.0-litre petrol mill, pumping out a top power of 68PS and 91Nm of torque. The Kwid Climber is offered in both the manual as well as the AMT options. It returns an impressive fuel economy of 23kmpl.
