Ford Figo Diesel ZXI

Ford India has finally launched the new and face-lifted version of its hatchback, Ford Figo. The car’s makeover was due since a long time and with the festive season kicking in; it was the best time for Ford India to bring this hatchback into the car industry. The car is launched in both diesel and petrol variant and 2012 Ford Figo Diesel ZXI is one of the most salable variant in the range. The firm has given a very visible makeover to the car, which means you can see many changes on the interiors and the exteriors. However, being smart as Ford India is, the company hasn’t touched the engine part and you would still find the same fuel efficient 1.4 litre of Duratorq diesel engine. The company has although tweaked with engine via software, which makes the performance of the car much smoother and better. On the outside, you would find the newly styled headlamps with some sporty silhouettes, while the new alloy wheels would make the ride in the 2012 Figo hatch very comfortable. On the other hand, the interiors of the car are also refurbished and now would see audio controls mounted on the steering wheel, door trim material has been refreshed and the two new color options- Yellow and Blue makes it a perfect deal for you. However, the price tag of the 2012 Ford Figo Diesel ZXI has been amplified a bit, but the new design features and good looks, it all becomes worth every penny spent on the hatch.

Exteriors

The looks and exteriors of the brand new face-lifted 2012 Ford Figo Diesel ZXI are very appealing. The company has worked very hard on it and made sure that it gives it a very unique look. The makeover of this hatch was due since a long time and with the revision done to it is commendable. The car comes with refreshed headlamps on the front along with new clear-lens cover. The front grille has also been redesigned, which make the car appear to be smarter. The fog lamps have also so been refurbished a bit. When you see the rear end of the 2012 Ford Figo facelift, the major noticeable thing there is the tail lights, which are given a new design. Interiors

The interiors of the new Ford Figo Diesel ZXI have been refreshed and turned into more premium and lavish than before. The 12V power outlet is also installed in the car.

Engine and Performance

Under the bonnet, the new 2012 Ford Figo Diesel ZXI hasn’t been touched and still comes with the powerful and dynamic 1.4 litre of four cylinder Duratorq diesel engine. This 1399cc of diesel mill is capable of delivering high torque of 68bhp @ 4000rpm along with 160Nm of crest torque @ 2000rpm. The engine however has been tweaked in order to give a smooth and inspiring performance on road . The five speed manual gearbox mated with the engine takes the mileage to as high as 18.5kmpl on the highways and 14.5kmpl on the heavy traffic city roads. The hatch is a front wheel drive and when accelerated, the car catches up a top speed of 175kmph and in 16 seconds it goes from 0 to 100kmph, which is quite nice .

Braking and Handling

Nothing technically has been changed in the new Ford Figo Diesel ZXI. However, practically when driving the car, you would feel that the handling is much easier and smoother than before. The suspension system takes all the credit here. it comprise of Independent McPherson Strut with Dual Path mount in the front and rear has Semi Independent Twist Beam, Coil Springs and shock absorbers that makes the ride bump-free and avert any kind of vibrations. Furthermore, the five speed manual gearbox functioning is really good and the power steering wheel that has a turning radius of 4.9meters adds on extra points for the handling. The brake system in the new Figo hatch diesel ZXI includes the ventilated disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the rear. 

Safety features

The safety features in the new Ford Figo Diesel ZXI include Central Locking, Power Door locks, halogen headlamps, rear seat belts, day and night rear view mirrors, adjustable seats, door Ajar warning, keyless entry, rear defogger and engine immobilizer. But as Ford India has attached a very competitive price tag to the variant, it lacks some of the safety features which are usually present in other hatchback with the similar price tag. These comprise of ABS, Brake Assist, Child Safety locks, Anti-Theft alarm, Airbags, Traction control, Tyre pressure monitor, Vehicle Stability control system, engine check warning and crash sensor.
