Eicher Polaris Pvt Ltd launches Multix, a 'Personal Utility Vehicle' for Rs. 2.32 Lakhs

Eicher Polaris Pvt. Ltd., a 50:50 joint venture between Eicher Motors Ltd and Polaris Industries Inc., has launched the Multix; something they claim to be India’s First ‘Personal Utility Vehicle’. The vehicle shall be developed in Eicher Polaris’ Jaipur facility. Eicher Polaris Pvt. Ltd. has made an investment of Rs.350 crores towards product development and setting up a manufacturing facility. The plant has an annual capacity of 60,000 units which can be scaled up to 1,20,000 units. 

Multix will be available in two variants and four colors, starting at a price of Rs. 232,850/ - (ex-showroom, Jaipur).   Speaking at the launch of Multix, Siddhartha Lal, Managing Director & CEO, Eicher Motors Ltd., said, “We have identified a large untapped segment in Independent Businessmen with an estimated population of 5.8 crores in India, and are committed to create a new and strongly differentiated automotive solution for them through Multix. Our aim is to equip the consumers with the Multix ecosystem and enable them to unlock their potential by accessing a world of new opportunities. We have made an investment of Rs. 350 cr  till date.” 

The Multix aims to be an all-purpose utility vehicle for transporting people as well as cargo. Two variants are on offer, the AX+ which does not have doorways and the MX, which does. It is powered by a Greaves four-stroke single cylinder engine generating 9.92 PS of power and 27.1 Nm of torque, mated to a four speed manual transmission.

The Multix can be adapted to create large storage space of 1918 liters. It is equipped with a power-take-off point, which can generate power of up to 3 KW, something the company has christened as an X-Port. It features a high ground clearance of 225 mm and an independent suspension set-up to tackle bad roads.

Multix has undergone over 18,00,000 km equivalent of rigorous testing for off-road reliability, safety & durability.
