Tata Aria
(View All Models)22 March, 2013 : Tata Motors has had quite a lot of trouble with the Tata Aria despite the SUV being one of its most technologically advanced models to date. In order to fix the situation, Tata recently launched a price-cut Tata Aria but that did not quite fix matters in terms of sales. Therefore, to further remedy the situation, Tata Motors has brought out a new scheme on the Aria where customers will be able to avail a discount of Rs. 2.5 lakh on the car. However, the Rs. 2.5 lakh discount is only reserved for some of the 2011 models. A discount of 2.0 lakh is on offer for all the 2012 Tata Aria models. This offer does not apply on the base model – Tata Aria Pure LX.

Power of Tata Aria

Editor's take : The power ratings of the Aria is similar to the 2.2-litre used on the older Safari, but the refinement and power delivery is more linear than the older engine.
The famous and much loved Tata Safari engine is the one that powers the all the variants of Tata Aria. Tata Aria comes packed with a 2.2L, 2179cc, 4-cylinder, Direct Injection Common Rail (DICOR) engine with dual mass flywheel. The 2.2L Direct Injection Common Rail (DICOR) engine in the Tata Aria offers a maximum power of 140 PS at 4,000 rpm and develops a peak torque of 320 Nm at 1,700-2,700 rpm . The engine is similar to that of Safari but its refinement is very obvious to be able to suit Tata Aria better. It is refined with optimized rubber mounts, aluminum cast sump, better acoustic package with a dual mass flywheel which plays the main role to reduce unwanted vibrations and enhances the overall engine performance. Acceleration and overall performance in the new Tata Aria is surely bettered in comparison to Safari.

Editor's take : The power ratings of the Aria is similar to the 2.2-litre used on the older Safari, but the refinement and power delivery is more linear than the older engine.
The performance and massive power of the Tata Safari is well known and since the refined Safari unit powers Tata Aria, there is plenty of power and acceleration. The new Tata Aria comes powered by the Safari's 2.2L, 2179cc, Direct Injection Common Rail (DICOR) engine with dual mass flywheel that delivers the maximum power of 140 PS at 4,000 rpm with the maximum torque of 320 Nm at 1700-2700 rpm. Tata Aria Exteriors

Tata Aria is being hailed as the most sophisticated Tata ever and thus the exterior appearance is class and suave. The Tata Aria comes in the crossover segment and its looks do not disappoint. Tata Aria's front appearance is very aggressive. At very first look, Tata Aria seems like MUV or we can say similar to Toyota Innova but its large sporty wheels with muscular wheel arches add SUV like effect. The Tata Aria's designing is a never-before from Tata with its wide and aggressive upper front grille and a bit Tata Indica Vista and Manza type looks. The front turn indicators are also placed at automatically adjustable ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors) . Tata Aria comes with sophisticated headlamps and bonnet creases look same like all traditional vehicles from Tata Motors’ product portfolio.
The frontal view of the Tata Aria is attributed by its attractive vertically stacked dual barrel front headlamps with darkness sensing; the headlamps look as if giving support to the horizontal slats chrome grille with company logo. The lower air intake captures more space unlike other SUVs and houses front bright fog lamps in round shape. The wheelarches and bumpers are in body color that give uniformity to the car. Body color rub rails and chrome waistline on windows makes it distinctive among its peers. Rain sensing wipers also find their place in the car.
The Tata Aria has its body colored door handles placed parallel to the rear side mirrors and this five door vehicle has five-spoke 17 inch alloy wheels with tubeless radial tyres. Tata Aria's rear tail gate lifts up like a hatchback. Also, the Tata Aria has some very refined features like large dual elliptical exhausts , high mounted vertically stacked tail lamps, rear wiper autowipe, while reversing and a third stop lamp placed above the tail gate for that SUV look. With this all new better designed and better built Tata Aria the company is sure to carve a niche for itself in the premium car segment.

Tata Aria Interior

Editor's take : The interiors of the Aria are anything like any other Tatas. The plastic quality and the fit and finish is much better than that in any Tata car.
The Tata Aria, the most expensive Tata vehicle so far, certainly gives the already existing players like Toyota Innova, Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Xylo, Ford Endeavour and Chevrolet Captiva a run for their money. The spacious cabin of the Tata Aria is as luxurious as any other premium sedan. The tilt adjustable steering wheel of the Tata Aria has four spokes and has mounted audio and phone controls . Advanced instrument cluster which is placed just behind the steering wheel looks like a MotoGP bike's one with only 2 dials with black and white colour combination. All the regular indicators are positioned at the centre of the console in a scattered manner.

Interior Comfort
Tata Aria is a very comfortable crossover with ample room for comfortable seating. It is packed with three rows seating arrangements which can accommodate 7 passengers. However, the third row has less leg room but it's not a big concern as it is a common problem in MPVs. The driver seat of the Tata Aria is 6 way adjustable including height adjustment and headrestraints; middle seat can be slided, handrest is also adjustable, lumbar support adjustment can be done for comfortable seating. Seat belts are also height adjustable that add extra comfort
The Tata Aria boasts of three seat rows in which 7 passengers can be accommodated including the driver. The info system also has an in built Bluetooth connect with which you can pair up to 5 mobile phones. The system also displays inside/outside temperatures, distance the car can travel on available fuel, instant and average fuel consumption, and other alerts related to performance and efficient control of Tata Aria which is Anti-theft protected.

Despite being one of the most technologically advanced vehicles, Tata Aria could not lure much buyers towards it, possibly due to lack of branding and the pricing. So to make things right, the company launched the stripped down version of the Aria called as Pure LX at Sub- Rs 10 lakh price in February 2012, but that too could not change the things. Now the company has come up with an exciting scheme, under which a buyer can avail the discounts of up to Rs 2.5 lakh on buying Tata Aria, however it won't be applicable on the Base Pure LX variant.
