Both the engines are mated with an advanced dual clutch 7G Tronic automatic transmission gearbox that transmits the torque output to its rear wheels and allows it to reach a maximum speed of 230 Kmph. Its petrol variants can break the 100 Kmph speed mark from a standstill 7.3 seconds, whereas the diesel trim can break it in about 8 seconds.

Engine and Performance

This refurbished saloon is now available with one petrol and diesel engine option. Its petrol variant is fitted with a powerful 2.0-litre petrol engine that has high pressure direct fuel injection technology. It also has an exhaust gas charger, which enhances its power output. It comprises of 4-cylinders and 16-valves that displaces 1997cc. This power plant has the ability to pump out a maximum power of 181bhp at 5500rpm that results in a commanding torque output of 300Nm in the range of 1200 to 1400rpm. On the other hand, the newly launched diesel trim is equipped with a 2.2-litre motor that displaces 2143cc. Mileage

Editor's take : The mileage of the C-Class diesel is phenomenal and the large 65-litre tank gives it a really long range. It returns about 10-11 km/l in the diesel variants in city if driven with a light foot.

The newly introduced diesel variants are powered by a 2.2-litre engine that has common rail direct fuel injection system. This enables the vehicle to deliver a maximum mileage of approximately 23.7 Kmpl, which is is impressive. On the other hand, its existing variant is fitted with a petrol engine that as high pressure direct fuel injection system along with variable valve timing technology. Power of Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Editor's take : The power produced by all the engines is good and the bigger diesel has good power as well. The C250 CDI produces 204bhp, which is phenomenal.

Its 2.0-litre petrol engine comprises of 4-cylinders and it is incorporated with a turbocharger. This helps it to develop a maximum power of 181bhp in combination with a hammering torque output of 300Nm, which is remarkable.
