Mileage

Fiat Linea TachoMeter

Ed's take: The Linea will retain the same engines, hence there won’t be a major change in the fuel economy of the sedan. It will still boost the 1.4-litre petrols and 1.3-litre diesel mills. The diesel will be the most fuel-efficient of the lot.

The petrol variants of this sedan are equipped with a 1.4-litre, DOHC based T-Jet petrol engine that generates a peak mileage of about 12 kmpl in urban areas, while on the highways it gives 15.7 kmpl. On the other hand, the diesel variants of this facelifted sedan are equipped with the company's most popular 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, DOHC Multijet diesel engine that comes equipped with a variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) for enhanced power production. This engine allows the vehicle to return a minimum 14 kmpl of mileage in city, while giving away 19 kmpl on bigger roads. The company has blessed this model series with a fuel tank that has a storage capacity of 45 litres, which will be helpful in planning longer journeys as well.

Furthermore, 2014 Ford Fiesta was introduced recently and surprisingly the car that was way to costly when it entered the market in 2011, is now the least expensive diesel mid-size sedan in the lot. Moreover, refurbished Linea entered in March 2014 and despite of the facelift the sales are not up to the mark.
