Launched in the year 2012, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga created a new compact utility segment. The USP of the Ertiga, which made it an instant hit among buyers, is its car like handling and compact appearance, despite being a 7-seater. The Ertiga is available in three fuel options - petrol, diesel and CNG. The Maruti MPV is being offered in 10 variants, which include Lxi, Lxi (O), Vxi, Zxi, Zxi+, Ldi, Ldi (O), Vdi, Zdi and Zdi+. The Japanese carmaker is also offering the Ertiga in both manual as well as automatic options; however, the automatic is only available with the Vxi trim.

Christened as the Maruti Ertiga Vxi AT , the vehicle generates 92.5PS of power and 130Nm of peak torque from the 1373cc K-series petrol engine. It is linked to a four-speed automatic transmission.

Based on the Vxi trim, the Ertiga automatic gets the same features as seen on its manual counterpart. On the exterior, it gets chrome fog lamp bezel, a chrome grille, full wheel cap, turn indicators on ORVMs, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs and body coloured outside door handles and mirrors.

The notable features inside include, 2nd row seat 60:40 split with slide, 3rd row seat 50:50 split, luggage box, tachometer, multi-information display, front and rear power windows, keyless entry, 2nd row accessory socket, 2nd row AC, 2nd row armrest, 2 DIN MP3 auto with Bluetooth connectivity, steering mounted audio/calling controls and four speakers.

With respect to safety, the Ertiga automatic gets height-adjustable front seat belts, rear parking sensors, front fog lamps, front airbags, ABS, seat-belt pre-tensioner and force limiter and a security alarm.

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga AT is the only MPV to get an automatic in its price range. However, the Toyota Innova Crysta AT and Mahindra XUV 500 AT can be its next possible rivals.
