Nissan Motors introduced the Micra hatchback series in the small car segment a few years back and since then they have never looked back. This hatchback series has been awarded the best small car award in petrol segment in 2010. It has a 1.2-litre petrol engine and has a manual transmission gear box. This is a hatchback with seating capacity of 5 adults. Being a plus variant it includes lots of features in comfort and safety department. The deal breaker with the Nissan Micra XE Plus is its impressive fuel economy, which is quite easy on the pocket of a middle class family. Nissan has also provided some beautiful shades for both interiors as well exteriors of the Nissan Micra XE Plus.

Exterior :

The Nissan Micra XE Plus is available in a total of 6 colors namely Pacific Blue, Brick Red, Blade silver, Sunshine Orange, Storm White and Onyx Black. All these shades are quite beautiful and match gracefully with the good upholstery inside. The length, width and height of the Nissan Micra XE Plus measures out to be 3780mm, 1665mm and 1530 respectively. It has a front tread of 1470mm and rear tread of 1475mm. The bumpers of the Nissan Micra XE Plus are body colored and also have a roof antenna on the top for better signal reception.

Interior :

The Nissan Micra XE Plus is as beautifully crafted inside as it is from the outside. The fabric upholstery and black interior color scheme has been bestowed to this vehicle. The heating, ventilation and air conditioning are one of the best in small car segment. The cargo volume is of about 251litres , enough to store luggage and other items. Some other interior features include digital clock, cigarette lighter and spacious glove compartment.

Engine and Performance :

Despite being a small hatchback, the Nissan Micra XE Plus has a 1.2-litre petrol engine capable of delivering 1198cc . This engine gives 75bhp at 6000rpm and maximum torque is 104Nm at 4000rpm. The DOHC valve configuration has 3 cylinders with 4 valves per cylinder. The Nissan Micra XE Plus has a manual transmission with 5 speed gearbox. The electronic fuel injection system produces good fuel economy, with 18.06kmpl on highways and 15.03kmpl in the city. The top speed of this hatchback is 158kmph and it can reach from 0 to 100kmph in 15.2 seconds.

Braking and Handling :

The Nissan Micra XE Plus combines a power steering with ventilated disc and drum brake mechanism . The steering column can be tilt adjusted to meet the driver's requirement. The turning radius is about 4.65m, the tyres are tubeless and it has a minimum ground clearance of 155mm. The steel wheels have a size of 14 X 5.5J and 165/70 being tyre size for the 14inch tyres . The suspension setup is McPherson strut for front wheels and torsion beam for rear axle to give a smooth and easy ride.

Comfort Features :

The power steering is very responsive and gives great sense of control to the driver of the vehicle. Integrated front and rear headrest offer good comfort to all the passengers. Three cup holders, two bottle holders, glove compartment offer lots of space for storage. Manual air conditioning is also in the offering with dust filters too. The rear seat can be folded to make extra room for storing purposes also.

Safety Features :

There is not much to offer in terms of safety in the Nissan Micra XE Plus. It has some basic safety and security features. There is just one airbag for driver. An engine immobilizer has also been installed in the Nissan Micra XE Plus. Ventilated and drum brakes significantly reduces skidding of the vehicle . Halogen headlamps are used as they provide good amount of light. Both front as well as side impact beams have been equipped and have the potential to absorb any crash on the car’s body. Some other safety and security features include passenger side rear view mirror, rear seat belts, centrally mounted fuel tank, tubeless tyres and adjustable seats.

Pros : Stylish looks, decent interiors, powerful engine.

Cons : Many features can be added, mileage can be better.
