How is the updated Innova Crysta different from the older model? Let’s find out

Toyota has launched the facelifted Innova Crysta in India at a starting price of Rs 16.26 lakh. It gets updated aesthetics and added features. Let’s see how the facelifted Innova Crysta fares against the pre-facelift model.

Exterior:

Since it is a facelift, the changes are mild in nature. Upfront, it gets a redesigned front grille finished in gloss black with a thick chrome surround at the lower end. It is flanked by slightly updated LED headlamps which get a chrome extension running into the front grille. The new bumper now features vertically-stacked turn indicators and new circular fog lamps which are placed much closer to the front skid plate.

The side and rear profiles remain unchanged except for a new set of dual-tone alloy wheels.

Interior:

The cabin layout has remained unchanged. The only visible change is the introduction of a darker shade of faux wood insert on the dashboard and steering wheel. While the pre-facelift model was offered with two different leather upholstery colour options -- Hazel Brown and Ivory -- the updated Innova Crysta has three colour options: Hazel Brown, Black and Camel Tan.

Features:

With the facelift, the Innova Crysta gets new features like a bigger 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and front parking sensors. The rest of the feature list remains unchanged with up to 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, hill launch assist, cruise control, tilt and telescopic steering, auto AC with rear AC vents, 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat and ambient lighting.

Variants:

While the pre-facelift Innova Crysta was offered in five variants: G, G+, GX, VX and ZX, the Innova Crysta Facelift is offered in three variants: GX, VX and ZX. That said, Toyota is still selling the G and G+ variants in the pre-facelift avatar exclusively to fleet operators.

Engines:

Things have remained untouched under the bonnet as it gets the same set of petrol and diesel engines as before. The petrol engine on offer is a 2.7-litre unit making 166PS of power and 245Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine, on the other hand, is a 2.4-litre unit making 150PS of power and 343Nm of peak torque (360Nm with automatic). Both the engines are offered with a 5-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
