The British supercar maker has achieved this feat in just 64 months

British supercar maker Mclaren Automotive has reached the milestone of producing 10,000 road-legal cars. A Mclaren 570S in ceramic grey colour, which was manufactured in the company’s only production house in the world in Woking, England, marked this landmark. The car will be retained by the company in its Heritage Collection. The automaker achieved this feat in just over 5 years of production after the first car, a Mclaren 12C, was completed in 2011.

While celebrating this achievement, Mike Flewitt, CEO, Mclaren Automotive said that it is a significant milestone for the company as it took 42 months to produce the first 5,000 cars and just 22 months for the next 5,000. He further added that this tremendous increase in pace of production speaks about the rise of the company in the world of supercar manufacturers. Much credit goes to the introduction of the Sports Series family of cars and the 570S is the perfect car to mark this achievement.

The Sports Series family of cars has been a superb addition to the Mclaren portfolio. It comprises of three cars - 540C, 570S and 570GT. In early 2016, the company added a second shift into the Mclaren Production Centre to cater to the increased demand. The second shift doubled the daily production count from 10 to 20 cars. Thanks to the popularity of its cars, Mclaren are also on track to record a 100 per cent growth in sales from 1,654 units sold last year to over 3,000 in 2016 - 90 per cent of which were exported.

After the first car was produced in July 2011, the company has gone ahead to expand its portfolio, from the initial 12C and 12C Spider to the 650S and 675LT in the Super Series. Mclaren also produced 375 Mclaren P1TM cars over the 64 months of production span.
