The XUV500 did a lot of things right, which is why this car was so successful. Think of the XUV700 as a vastly improved XUV500. the same formula but updated for 2021. Based on first impressions and killer entry prices, Mahindra definitely seems to have a winner on its hands. The XUV700 is offered with multiple powertrain options, is packed with features (many firsts in the segment), has a spacious interior, looks like an SUV (not a small crossover/MPV) and most importantly, has an attractive starting price. Mahindra is super aggressive with the starting prices, but we'll have to wait and see how the rest of the lineup fares. There are 4 variants on offer ? MX, AX3, AX5 and AX7 and the base MX variant with 197bhp 2.0 liter petrol engine and 6 speed MT is priced at Rs. 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it the most powerful SUV in the range under Rs. 15 lakh price barrier (on road). The MX variant with diesel engine is priced at Rs. 12.49 lakhs. The XUV700 has a monocoque construction that uses high strength steel. It has BIW with a ring structure for greater torsional stiffness. The car feels well built and sturdy. The door has a lot of weight. Even the hood is quite heavy and most people will push it with both hands. Interestingly, the back door was made of plastic. Still, it's by no means lightweight and feels sturdy. Panel gaps, though not as tight as we've seen in some other cars, are even and the paint finish is good.With the market trending towards safety, Mahindra has taken the next step to equip the XUV700 with plenty of safety features. The highlight is the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which is technology for various functions such as forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assistant, adaptive cruise control, intelligent pilot assistant, traffic sign recognition and high beam assistant. .Getting in and out of the XUV700 is a breeze due to its high roof and lower floor (compared to traditional body-on-frame SUVs). Like the XUV500, the interior is spacious enough to seat 5 adults comfortably. Second-row legroom is generous, and a 6-foot passenger can easily fit behind an equally tall driver. Headroom is also adequate in the front and back. However, the third row is at best adequate for a few children. Overall it is a very good car for Indian family.
