Volvo to recall 7420 cars in US due to defect in passenger seat

Volvo, the premium car manufacturer's from Sweden, will recall 7420 cars which were sold in the US auto markets due to the problems encountered in the passenger seats. In US, recall seems to become a trend wherein car makers are recalling its cars. After Toyota Motors, its Volvo now.

As per the report, the Sweden company Volvo will call back 7420 units. The car models include Volvo S40 (2009-11), Volvo S60 (2009-11), Volvo V50 (2009-11) and Volvo XC60 (2009-11) that are affixed with power front passenger seats. As per the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the end stops attached in the cars, is speculated to be missing.

As per NHTSA, the car's front seat rail's detection system is wrongly manufactured and as a result the passenger may pull the seat forward, exceeding the limit. The report also says that the seat positioning, if not favorable may risk injury at the time of accident.

The report also mentions a document filed in the Federal government in which Volvo said that, the company has not received any complains of fatalities, injuries or crashes which is related to the current recall. The report states that, in the front passenger seat, the end stops are missing as revealed in the crash test which can result in serious injuries. The Volvo car dealers will look for the end stop presence in the front passenger side seats and will repair the cars as required. As per NHTSA, Volvo, the Sweden auto company has not given any owner notification schedule.

In India, Volvo cars sell in the premium car segment. Currently the company, owns three car models, the premium sedan Volvo S80 and stout and savvy SUVs which include the recently launched Volvo XC60 and Volvo XC90.

Well if the grapevines are to be believed, Volvo luxury car maker wants to hit the popular car segment in the auto sector. The company management is in the deciding phase to leave aside the premium tag. The company's step define its desperation to spread as a popular car brand in the global auto market. There has been clashes over the same within the company's bosses. The company competes with the likes such as Mercedes S class and BMW 7 Series.
