The top 5 selling brands witnessed a month-on-month growth with Maruti nearing the 1.7 lakh sales mark

The brand-wise sales figures for the month of October 2023 are out, and as usual, Maruti Suzuki leads the sales chart, followed by Hyundai and Tata. Most brands witnessed a positive monthly result for the festive period. Kia registered a month-on-month (MoM) growth of over 21%, while Toyota and Honda faced decline in their monthly sales. Maruti Jimny

  • Maruti Suzuki recorded its highest-ever monthly sales in October 2023 at over 1.99 lakh units. Its domestic sales figure continues to dominate the market 1.68 lakh units sold in the past month. The brand has achieved a month-on-month (MoM) growth of 11.4 percent, while year-on-year (YoY) demand has also increased by 19.7 percent.

Hyundai Grand i10 Nios 

  • Hyundai has demonstrated consistent month-on-month (MoM) performance by selling over 55,000 units in October 2023. The Korean carmaker has also achieved a year-on-year (YoY) growth of nearly 15 percent compared to its sales for the same month last year.

 Tata Harrier and Safari facelifts

  • At the third position, Tata has also recorded positive month-on-month (MoM) and year-on-year (YoY) growth of 7.9 percent and 6.9 percent, respectively. The Indian automaker sold more than 48,000 units in October 2023. Last month, we also saw two big launches in the form of the facelifted versions of the Tata Harrier and Tata Safari.

  • Kia has regained its market position as the fifth best-selling car brand in India. The carmaker sold more than 24,000 units in October 2023, demonstrating a MoM growth of 21.6 percent.

 Toyota Fortuner

  • Toyota has dropped from fifth to sixth place due to a decline in MoM sales by over 7 percent. Toyota sold over 20,500 units last month. However, the Japanese automaker has achieved the highest YoY growth of over 56 percent, selling around 7,000 more units compared to the previous year. 

  • Despite Honda maintaining a consistent demand of more than 9,000 units, its MoM sales have slightly declined by nearly 5 percent. In October 2023, Honda sold 9,400 units. 

  • MG has shown positive growth in both MoM and YoY sales, by 2 percent and 17 percent, respectively. It retailed over 5,000 units in October 2023. MG reduced the prices of the Hector, Hector Plus, and ZS EV for the festive season.

Skoda Kushaq 

  • While Skoda and Volkswagen have exhibited positive MoM and YoY sales growth, neither of them has surpassed the 5,000 units mark in individual sales. Skoda, in particular, has achieved an impressive YoY growth of 34.7 percent.
