Hyundai i20 rolls in Indian market

Hyundai Motors India Limited surprised everyone with the launch of its most awaited model, Hyundai i20, in India on 29th December. In December auto market is facing down fall in sales, and the last minute launch of Hyundai i20 took even the dealers by surprise.

Hyundai has launched the i20 by keeping in mind the Automotive Mission Plan 2016 which is projected by the government. Hyundai is also working towards to make India as a global hub for manufacturing of small cars. The company official said that it aims to have more options in the same segment to capture larger market share. Hyundai is already India’s largest car exporter and second largest car manufacturer.

“Hyundai i20 is a very important model for us. It is exclusively manufactured in India, like the Hyundai i10, and exported to the international market. No other country manufacture these cars, and both of these models are as Indian as they can be, yet ready for a global audience. Hyundai i10 is 90% indigenized, and Hyundai i20 has an Indian component content to the tune of around 85%. We have proven that global cars can be manufactured in India, and the Hyundai i20, like the i10, will carry this forward for us,” said HS Lheem, Managing Director, Hyundai Motors India Limited.
