The Japanese carmaker previously increased prices in February and April

According to a PTI report, Japanese carmaker Honda is getting ready to hike the prices of its cars for the third time in 2021. This increment will, however, be applicable from August.

Speaking about the hike, Rajesh Goel, Senior VP and Director, Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India Limited, said, "The prices of raw materials like steel, aluminium, and precious metals have increased sharply and many of them are at an all-time high, impacting our input costs significantly. Our endeavour is to keep the cost of acquisition lower, so we are currently deliberating on how much of the additional cost we can absorb and how much will be inevitable to be passed on to our customers. The revised prices will be implemented from next month."

Honda previously hiked prices between Rs 5,000 and Rs 20,000 in one go, depending on the model. Older models such as the Amaze and WR-V saw a smaller price hike, whereas the fifth-gen City saw a higher increment. Surprisingly, the fourth-gen City, which continues to be on sale, is yet to receive a price hike this year.

You can check out the price hike in February by heading here and the one in April here.

So this might be a good time to bring a Honda car home, particularly the fourth-gen City. The sedan has escaped two price hikes but with this latest increment being attributed to rising input costs, the older City may finally see a price revision.
